The pianos will be back and there will be 88 of them this time - all around the City. No reason to stop practicing just because you are on vacation here. June 18 - July 2. Read lots more about them at Sing for Hope's website.
One of our Sunday rituals when I was growing up was to find the "Ninas" in the Hirschfeld cartoons that were always on the front page of the Sunday New York Times theater section. Several years ago, I met Louise Hirschfeld, Al's second wife, at the 92nd Street Y. We both used to attend the same exercise class. Now we are more likely to run into each other at the pool. Anyway, I visited the house a couple of years ago. It was amazing.
Louise has remarried. The house has been sold. Furniture, drawings and other stuff will be auctioned at Doyle's on June 22nd. I won't be around that day however viewing of the auction items starts on Sat the 18th. For those of you who didn't grow up with the Nina cartoons, you can read books by and about Al Hirschfeld here.
Inuksuit? It is happening on June 21st and I will probably be there. You can read about it here. It is part of Make Music New York.
