First the biggy - Happy 100th Birthday Grand Central. The events begin today and you can start reading about them here. And for the NY Times coverage go here. I will stop in later today on my way to checking out....
the new photo exhibits at ICP and the exhibit on Surrealist drawing at The Morgan Library .
Lunch hour and another great photography exhibit will continue to be on view at the 42nd Street New York Public Library through mid February.
This is the last weekend to view the excellent Circus in New York exhibit at the Bard College gallery on West 86th Street.
There is a new exhibit at the Society of Illustrators on East 63rd Street.
RIP (Feb 1) Mayor Koch. I actually saw the new movie about him last month at the Jewish Film Festival but you can escape the cold and view the NYC you thought you remembered at several independent movie theaters in NYC while you are here.
For those of you looking for both famous and out of the way places to explore during Black History Month. Take a look at this 5 boro tour of a list. I intend to post some tours to these locations later in the month. Be on the lookout for them. (My tours may also include Seneca Village in Central Park)
Last (for the moment) is International Tourist Guide day on February 21st. I have posted my tours here. When the full Guides Association list is published, I will do another post. In the meantime I am going to invite my fellow guides to post links to their tours as comments.
Stay Warm! Pictures to follow
For the record, I did make it to ICP, The Morgan and the dance music in Grand Central on Friday. All were well worth the time spent and if you can't do the museums on their free or reasonable night, the exhibits are more than worth the price of admission.
