I can tell the holidays are here. Marathon and Thanksgiving trip reports are slowly showing up on Trip Advisor. People are beginning to plan for spring, summer, Thanksgiving and Holiday trips for 2014. I have managed to miss 2 great caroling and movie events in restored movie palaces at Loew's Jersey and United Palace but I won't miss caroling in Washington Square at 5 PM Christmas Eve. It is getting to be a habit. I like to duck out early and stroll to Gramercy Park. It is one of the few times a year that visitors are allowed to enter the Park.
Last year, I discovered an amazing hot chocolate place en route to Gramercy Park. I've forgotten the name. Perhaps I will stumble into it again. A great place to start from (I think) is Molly's Cupcakes on Bleecker Street. A Trip Advisor day tripper made a special trip down there before going to Annie. I've been curious about the place since I passed it en route to a great group dinner at Pagani's down the street. Pagani's is great. Have yet to try Molly's but I love the sign in the window. There's also a good Tea place across the street.
Show up around 4:45 and we can head to Washington Square from there. After Gramercy Park, I am heading uptown on the 6. Will be doing some volunteer work at 8:30. If anyone I know from real life or Trip Advisor or Fodor's is coming, let me know.
There is still time to tour the holiday windows in the mornings between Christmas and New Year with A Guide Named Sue.
The hot chocolate place LA Burdicks is closing early this year. Pity!
