With all of the controversy surrounding Tiger Woods, I thought I would check out his birth horoscope to see if there is anything that might have set this off. What I have found is a great deal of palentary activity that indicates that things are going to change dramatically for him in the coming months.
Planetary Birth Positions
Tiger Woods was born on December 30, 1975 at 10:50pm in Long Beach, California. This gives him Sun and Mercury in Capricorn, Moon in Sagittarius, Venus in Scorpio and Mars in Gemini with Virgo rising. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of his chart is the diachotomy between his prim and proper Virgo ascendant (he appears straight-laced and "virginal" to others who do not know him well) and his intense, passionate and insatiable Venus (how he expresses love) in Scorpio.
And yet his Sun (general personality) and Mercury (how he expresses himself) is in conservative and careful Capricorn. In his life he tends to be methodical, hard working, status seeking and somewhat pessimistic Capricorn. Under the surface, however, especially when it comes to love and sex, he is insatiable. Mars (how he takes action) is in flightly, fickle and intellectual Gemini. Mars is the highest planet in his chart making action and energy to his public face of paramount importance.
Saturn (where we see problems, feel less confident and excell only through hard work) is in his 9th house - large groups, friends and his long term mission in life. Certainly he is someone who has steadily honed his craft and overcame problems to make his success in the larger world. But he never feels quite secure and always thinks that he must continue to work hard as if it could alll go away in a flash.
Neptune and Moon in Sagittarius are opposing Mars in his birthchart indicating the potential (when this apsect is set off by a transit) for his career to be shockingly upended (Uranus) because of emotional family or home or private matters (Moon in the 4th house).
Saturn squares Uranus indicating that problems and challegnes can occur in a surprising or explosive manner and, because Uranus sits in his 2nd hoouse of money, it can imapct his finances.
Pluto squares his Sun indicating another opportunity for his personal landscape to change dramatically. His hopes, dreams, ambitions (Sun) concerning his family, relatives and sense of home (4th house) are irrevocably altered (Pluto) and can create new beginnings (1st house).
So why now? What has set off his chart? There are a few negative transits going on in his astrology birth chart right now - transits that will impact his career, his marriage and might create theneed to "start anew" in several areas of his life all at once. Here are some examples -
Currently Pluto is about 2 degrees in Capricorn which is starting to form a "conjunct" aspect with his Sun. The pressure has been building for some dramatic, upending change in his personal life. Things that he has tried to keep private will explode on the scene and will change things forever. However, those of us who have Pluto transits know that Pluto brings change where change is needed. It creates change that we ourselves are unable or unwilling to do but realize that it needs to be done. And, since Pluto has been opposing Tiger Wood's Midheaven for most of 2009, this public spectacle has been building all year.
Transiting Uranus (shocks and surprises) is 22 degreees in Pisces, squaring his MidHeaven (his public face, status and career) and about to transit Tiger's 7th house of marriage. Obviously all that has transpired will negatively impact his marriage and I see that coming to a head in the next few months.
Transiting Saturn is now 2 degrees in Libra which squares his natal Saturn and his Sun. The chickens are coming home to roost.
While we may not admire his current behavior, we should admire how he plays golf. To reflect on happier days, try his book - How I Play Golf
