Fringe Festival 2011 Reviews - 4

Bongoni ... Amazing one woman show about South Africa. Gabrielle Maisels the actor and writer is fabulous. This one has a well crafted beginning middle and end. I hope this has a long life beyond the Fringe.

Browsing...I used another voucher and went to see this. Great vignets about life, randomness, learning and wisdom that just happen in public libraries. They should do a performance for the Board of Directors of the 92nd Street Y. I still miss my neighborhood Y library. The extraordinary ordinary collection of NYC history, fiction, non-fiction, biography books, magazines and newspapers in one room was a great source for tour guide research. A quirky show about the randomness and creativity that sparked when people and books interact. It would be nice to see it performed at The Library of the Performing Arts.

After Anne Frank...Another one woman show that deserves a life beyond the Fringe. Carol Lempert the author and actor is very talented. My father was in an off Broadway production of Shayna Maidel so I remember that play and the first production of Ann Frank I ever saw was when our high school put it on and I was in Junior High. Well written - well acted show. May it live beyond the Fringe.

Photo I took a break between plays last week at the Liz Christy Community Garden. The scene at Houston and Second Avenue. Off to Calling Mr Robeson. More soon.
