My plans for July 3rd have changed slightly. I will still meet any of you who get up to join me for a tour of Times Square at 7AM. Afterwards, IF there are no takers for the Highline, I will head to the South Street Seaport by a different route and return from there to midtown at 1. I have to be somewhere work related at 2.
The Amazing Spiderman will be playing at my favorite movie palace - The Ziegfeld all of July 4th week.
Another great destination in Queens is the newly renovated Museum of the Moving Image for all film lovers.
Take a break from the heat with Lincoln Center's family film series. A Gene Kelly film festival starts on July 13th. The Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center has a great Noel Coward exhibit this summer as well as free films and lectures.
Rather than worrying about where to eat lunch in NYC, visit the main library's exhibits about Lunch hour in NYC and take your kids to see Winnie ther Pooh and the Google art exhibit (this one closes July 19th). There will be food trucks outside the library so enjoy lunch and the carousel in Bryant Park and notice the free photo exhibit about Bryant Park before and after the cleanup 20 years ago!
The Mostly Mozart festival begins at the end of July. They are celebrating birds this year. Too bad they didn't invite Paul Winter to do an encore performance of his spring concert at St John the Divine.
I will write more about the NYC Fringe Festival when the performance list comes out. Previews of the shows are on the website now.
If you are a reader or writer of thrillers, Thrillerfest is happening at the Grand Hyatt from July 11-14.
TADA - the best in very New York Children's theater at reasonable prices has their summer show from July 12 - August 4th. I will be taking my niece and family to the July 21st 4PM performance. We will no doubt return to Mukeunji the Korean restaurant we discovered while reading menus on 32nd Street.
