McCain and Palin vs Obama and Biden Composite Horoscopes

Polanimals Usually when we look at someone's horoscope chart it is for a single person, but there is a school of thought that says that when you are looking at compatibility between two people (such as when we look at a possible marriage match) we can combine two charts into one composite chart.

Since both Obama and McCain are running with running mates for office, I think we can create composite charts of the Democrat and Republican teams to see what type of administration (marriage) they would create. So I took all the midpoints of each team's charts and created composites. Here is what I found:

The combined astrology chart of Barack Obama and Joe Biden

The Obama Biden horoscope chart has sociable and diplomatic Libra on the midheaven - they make a good and compatible team. And there is a great deal of energy moving through the top of the chart with the Vertex (power), Pluto (great transformation) and Neptune (dreams) making excellent aspects and Mercury, Jupiter, Neptune and Mars all conjuncting the Midheaven. This indicates to me that they are generating good, intense energy and are getting their ideas out to the world.

Jupiter and the Moon both square the Midheaven however so they need to be careful of making their ideas and goals attainable and not unwieldy and out of control. They also need to keep their emotions in check so they do not go overboard or astray.

There are two stelliums (where more than three planets are in any one house). One is in the 10th house of career (Mercury- thoughts and ideas, Jupiter - luck and expansion, Neptune - dreams and dellusions). This means to me that they can easily express their lofty ideas in grand and lucky ways. They have to be careful to have goals that are attainable but the sky is tihe limit here. The other stellium is in the 9th house of foreign travel, higher learning and the law (Mars -action, Sun - dreams and goals, Saturn - problems but also success after hard work). This means to me that they are poised to do great things and can connect on the foreign stage.

Most of the planets are clustered in the third quadrant which is community and relatability. They seem to connect to the world in a meaningful way. And finally, they have great energy (Mars) and positive goals and appeal (Sun) going in the right direction that will have impact (sextile Vertex).

This compositie chart is well positioned for Novemebr when transiting Pluto (power) will give it a beneficial push. Pluto will sextile the Midheaven, Mercury, Jupiter, Neptune and trine natal Pluto. Very powerful. Even shocking transiting Uranus makes a good aspect (trine) to natal Uranus Any misstep or surprise will work to their advantage.

The combined astrology chart of John McCain and Sarah Palin

I have said in past posts that John McCain has a stronger chart than Barack Obama and on that basis alone, I might predict that McCain would win the Presidential election. However, when I combine John McCain's birth horoscope with Sarah Palin's horoscope (using her estimated birthtime of 4:40pm) I see a greatly diminished compositie chart. In other words, her presence on his ticket is a detriment, astrologically.

The Republican composite chart has Gemini on the Midheaven which projects a smart but superficial appearance. Both the Sun (goals, personality and life mission) and Mercury (ideas and communication) opposing the Midheaven. This says to me that their goals and ideas are actually in opposition. However the moon (emotions) and Saturn (problems but learning thorugh experience) are making good aspects to the top of the chart so emotionally the campaign will connect and there is the chance that any missteps will be overcome and used as learning experiences.

I like to use the Vertex (powerpoint in the chart) as an indicator of strength and in this composite chart the Vertex is making difficult aspects to Saturn (increasing the possibility of problems), the moon (creating emotional conflicts) and Jupiter (confounding luck and creating restriction). In addition the Sun opposes Mars (confounding actions and deferring goals) and also squares Pluto (another indicator that goals can be tossed off course). Yet they can use the element of surprise to their advantage (Vertex trine Uranus) and can harness dreams effectively (Neptune sextile Pluto).

The transits to the chart in the next month indicate more stress. Transiting Uranus (over the 7th house of relationships) and transiting Saturn (over the 1st house of appearances) will square Venus in the 10th house of career which can hurt their charisma.  Neptune (dreams and dellusions) is over their 6th house of work and it squares the natal Sun (gaols and personality) in the 3rd house of communication. They must be very careful of how the speak and what they say. Transiting Neptune is also squaring natal Pluto in the 12th house of hidden things. They should reveal all supressed secrets because they will be revealed anyway.

Conclusion

As a team, the Democrats Obama and Biden have the advantage. I would advise them to present themselves as a package and stress their strengths as a team.

The Republicans composite chart leads me to suggest that it would be better for John McCain to stress his individual qualifications and try to distance himself from Sarah Palin. He probably should not have too many joint appearances with her.

I have much more to say but this post is getting very long. A book I recommend is Planets in Composite: Analyzing Human Relationships. This book contains an explanation of the composite technique, chapters on casting and reading the horoscope, five case studies illustrating the use and validity of composite charts, plus twelve chapters of delineations. If you have questions or comments, please send them on and I can give even more details and examples.
