The Mystery and Importance of Numbers 36 and 9
I ascribe great importance to certain numbers. For example, if I am at a roulette table I will play 3, 33 and 7 but don't ask me why. I can't explain it. I just think that those are very special numbers for me.
We are approaching the Days of Awe in the Jewish Calendar. That is the perod between Rosh Hashonah (The New Year) and Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement). The number 36 is especially significant in Judiasm. It is "double chai" with chai meaning life and represented by the number 18. The Talmud speaks of 36 righteous people whose presence in the world prevents the end of time. Their existence is to prove the value of humanity to G-d. No small feat.... And they do not know that they play this most important role for mankind. Should one of these righteous 36 disappear, the world would end. Thankfully these 36 are very humble. They would not announce who they are. Anyone who claims to being one of the 36 is not.
How did the number thirty-six become so powerful? I googled and found a range of sites, some of which I still don't understand like The Bible Wheel, and Pinnacles. But as I delved more into numerology I discovered that 36 is reduced to 9 (3 + 6) and 9 is a sacred number. Nine is considered a good number in China and is associated with the Dragon which is a symbol of magic and power. Nine also resonates in Christianity, Islam and a range of Eastern Religions. Perhaps it is a number that can bring us all together?
Hmmm maybe I should change my roulette numbers to 9 and 36....?
What are your lucky numbers - and why?
