Ecological Coffins
"Going Green" has taken another large step forward in the form of ecologically friendly coffins. Passages is one of several companies that offer bio-degradable wicker coffins suitable for burial and "clean cremation".
These coffins are very popular in England right now but are proving to be more and more popular in the United States too. It is not only gaining popularity because of environmental concerns. It is also because of the price. A willow or seagrass model will cost about $1500 to $2500 instead of a several thousand dollar wooden or fiberglass casket.
So not only can one reduce their carbon footprint in life, one can make a further contribution to the sustainability of the planet in death.
