The Meaning of 2009

It is one of those snowy days here and I am thinking about what we might expect in 2009. I've posted my 2009 year horoscope as well as a comment on Pluto in Capricorn through 2009 and beyond. But I am still left with a nagging feeling that there is more to 2009 than astrology. So I searched the internet to see what others are saying about our upcoming year.

My first stop is Wikipedia Answers: What is the symbolic meaning of 2009 or 5769 in the Hebrew calendar? ANSWER: We have moved into the Hebraic year 5769 and ended the year 5768. Unexplained Mysteries forum has an interesting post from Sebastiann regarding 2009 numerology which says in part: "2009 (2+0+0+9 = 11) seems to mark the beginning of a new direction. In 2009, a new president will take office, and that president's birthday will contain numbers which add/reduce to the number 11. (Note, the number 11 is a very significant, spiritual number and is very prominent in some of the world's most major events.) Barack Obama's birthday adds up to 29, which reduces to 11. His common name (Barack Obama) has 11 letters. His first and last names total 5 vowels and 6 consonants (5+6 = 11). He will be sworn in on January 20th, and he will be the 44th president. 1/20 (1+2+0) reduces to 3, and 44th president (4+4) reduces to 8. Obama's birthday adds up to 29, which coincides with the "29" in 2009. Just Coincidence? I don't think so."

Finally Hans Decoz has a very good numerology based prediction for 2009. He is optimistic about the new year - strength, resiliency and transformation. That works for me.

For those who just want to kick back and enjoy something without great cosmic meaning, approach 2009 astonomically. Just view the skies tonight and see a beautiful celestial event where Jupiter, Mercury and Venus all align and glow.

Belief in the Paranormal

Thank goodness many American’s believe in the paranormal - as much as 75% of them.

 

 

Researchers at the Baylor institute created a paranormal index to determine what effect religion has on paranormal beliefs. They found that those who practice non-Christian and Non-Jewish religions are more likely to believe in the paranormal. And, among those who are either Christian or Jewish, Evangelicals and those who attend church regularly are the least likely to believe in the paranormal.

 

 

But that still leaves a large group of Americans who believe!

You Can Really Smell Fear

The scientists at the State University of New York at Stony Brook have just confirmed that, in fact, we can smell fear. Apparantly phernomes are given off by fearful people which can be smelled through their sweat. And it is contagious -- if someone sitting next to you on a plane is afraid of flying, they can make you more anxious too.

So I am thinking, is there a way to mask your fear by spritzing some cologne or wearing essential oils? Imagine being able to use essential oils to create a new emotional response in others. Put others at ease by a spray of lavender or energize the room with rosemary.
