Horoscope for March 2009 and the Week of March 2, 2009

With four plants hovering in Aquarius, we are encouraged to take a stand on important issues for the next few weeks. Don’t just hang around trying to look important. Take it to the streets and march forth!

Shatner ARIES   (MARCH 21 - APRIL 20)
Friends will be much more important to you throughout the month so find ways to expand your personal outreach. This may require greater time investment with those who can help you advance your cause. Put personal preferences aside and rub elbows with the influentials rather than the loveables, Ram. Who knows what a little rubadub can produce?

(William Shatner has Sun in Aries)

TAURUS   (APRIL 21 - MAY 21)
Bulls might be buried neck deep in career issues. This can be a good thing if it enables you to remove barriers to success and speed up your corporate progress. Of course, you might also undiplomatically upend any progress if you rush rush. But if you keep your opinions to yourself and maintain a cunning careful eye on the prize, you wind up on top ... for a change.

GEMINI   (MAY 22 - JUNE 21)
Travel beckons and Twins must heed the siren call. March may raise your burn-out potential but a quick and easy refresh can save the day. Even if money is tight and work demands are crushing, find creative ways to escape from your usual skin and try something new and energizing. You needn’t travel far, only differently. But trying a new route to work does not count.

CANCER   (JUNE 22 - JULY 23)
The next few weeks sizzle as you cook. Crabs find that their personal hottness hits a high. Don’t stew in your own juices while the rest of the world looks on. It is time to venture forth and see who responds. Before you know it your dance card fills up and you have your choice of delicacies. Are your eyes too big for your stomach? Good! Gluttony is not a sin this month.

LEO   (JULY 24 - AUGUST 23)
You may want to change the dynamics of a certain relationship now. Are partners giving you what you want and need? Be honest in your appraisal. If things have gotten stale and boring, the status quo may simply no longer do. Lions are antsy and ready for a ramp up or a change. Put your cards on the table and see what happens next. Gin!

VIRGO   (AUGUST 24 - SEPTEMBER 23)
If you find yourself buried in miniutia and paperwork, it is an excellent time to prioritize, Virgin. All this hubbub is creating unnecessary stress and does not get the work done. Resolve to clear off your desk and turn your attend to your overall well being and health. Conserving your energy now will pay huge dividends later when the job push is on. Lucky you...

LIBRA   (SEPTEMBER 24 - OCTOBER 23)
With little prompting, Libras find ways of having fun and getting into mischief. Nothing can hold you back now because you have ample energy reserves and your optimism is high. And  things are beginning to go your way. Use this luck and creativity  to find new solutions to old problems. Mine your gems for future profit or just wear them to dazzle the crowd.

SCORPIO   (OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 22)
Spring may be in the air but Scorps are perfectly content to laze around the house now. Well maybe laze isn’t the right word since you are full to overflowing with zesty energy. Move a few things around, repair frayed connections with relatives, settle into a comfortable routine and open up your house to hordes of guests. Maybe they will spring clean for you....?

SAGITTARIUS   (NOVEMBER 23 - DECEMBER 22)
Archers are full of great ideas and have some strong and pointed opinions. Your enthusiasm propels you to share your bon mots with anyone and everyone. However there are times to speak out and there are times to sit back and quietly listen. Will you be able to recognize the difference now? Probably not. But all will be forgiven... eventually.

CAPRICORN   (DECEMBER 23 - JANUARY 20)
Money issues come to the fore and not a moment too soon. While Caps love luxury and status, they may have overspent their currently restricted budget. Stop bleeding red ink and start to focus on the bottom line. By getting your finances under control, you will soon be better able to plan for your eventual comfy retirement. Or something like that.

AQUARIUS   (JANUARY 21 - FEBRUARY 19)
Aquarians cannot be blamed for feeling pretty darned great now and that is because they now have boundless energy and charisma. Don’t sit on your sofa and procrastinate. This is the time to get up and get going on any long term project. Meet and greet and try to be sweet. You will need these folks’ help in the coming months. Charm and conquer.

PISCES   (FEBRUARY 20 - MARCH 20)
While there is a caldron of activity bubbling behind the scenes, Fish can soon get a sense of what is what and how to get what they want. March is the month to expand your spiritual outreach and get more involved in charitable efforts. Your karma is building. Listen to your inner voice ... unless it suggests that you bar hop in the nude.

Lucky Numbers for week of February 27, 2009

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But I think it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes.

So with that in mind, I decided that we could use some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....?

I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of wealth.

Here are the lucky numbers for the week of February 27-March 5, 2009:

1, 7, 18, 26, 33, 44, 46, 49

Fun with Animal Towel Origami

I was recently on my first cruise, just a brief three-day cruise with Norwegian Cruise Lines that proved long enough for me to get very seasick but not long enough to really get "my sea legs." One night when we returned to our cabin we were delighted to find a cute elephant made from a few rolled towels and wearing sunglasses. The next night we found a towel frog. These towel animals were really adorable and I was annoyed later that I didn't think to take any photographs of them.

After doing a bit of online searching I was surprized to discover that it is not unusual for cruise lines to do this. There are books on the subject as well: The Lost Art of Towel Origami and How to Make a Towel Monkey and other Cruise Ship Favorites. Here is a good YouTube video of a cruise line attendant demonstrating how to create an elephant from two towels. I'm glad someone thought to get this on video. Maybe I'll surprise our next house guests with a towel animal on their bed.

DIY Spells: Letting Go...

The concept of spells and putting spells on people is interesting and, I admit, somewhat compelling. It gives us the feeling that we can control the unknown and seemingly uncontrollable future. I think that there is a bit of chance in this life but there is also a bit of personal control and motivation that can help make the bumps smoother and the opportunities greater. Let's call it Mind Over Matter.

Candle1 Here is a "Do It Yourself" spell that might help clear the cobwebs, focus our actions and create more good energy to flow in the right direction. This spell allows us to let go of anything thing that have been holding us back from success whether its love, hurt, fears or stress.

1. Get a white candle that is between 5 and 8 inches long.

2. Light the candle, hold it and close your eyes.

3. Deeply and methodically concentrate on the issue that is most frustrating you.

4. Go through the steps of what started it, how it has evolved and where the issue rests today. Take as long as you need but no less than 5 minutes.

5. Then tell yoursef that this issue is extinguished and blow out the candle.

6. Bury the used candle in the ground.

7. Step on the dirt.

The Meaning of Colors ... within Astrology

Colorwheel Colors have very different meanings and can conjure up different reactions in people. Wearing or displaying some colors can spur aggression in others or can make them feel more comfortable. The stuble use and choice of color can help you be more successful in how you perceive yourself and how others view you.

Here is a quick guide:

Red is associated with energy, force, aggression and power. It also shows passion; the stronger the red is the greater the intensity of the passion (like sending red roses for "love" but pink for "friendship".) Red is attributed to the astrology sign of Aries which is powerful, domineering and strong. When you wear red, you naturally feel more in control and out front. If you prefer to blend into the background. avoid wearing too much red.

Yellow is sunshine, happiness, energy, smarts and honor. It is associated with the zodiac sign of Gemini which is sociable, charming, cheery and mentally active. Yellow grabs ones attention. But studies have found that overuse of the color yellow may create too much stress. (Geminis are known to get overstressed easily.) Babies cry more in yellow rooms. But use this color carefully - yellow is not the color of "status" so Capricorns should avoid. If you want to impress, don't cloak yourself in yellow.

Orange is considered joyful because it combines the strength of red with the happiness of yellow. It represents enthusiasm, fascination, creativity, success and stimulation. They say that orange increases oxygen supply to the brain and gives an energizing boost to stimulate brain activity. Because it is a citrus color it is said to stimulate appetite and is associated with healthy food. So a restaurant with an orange color motif may spur diners. Orange is associated with Libra who has a warm personality, loves to attract attention and loves healthy food.

Green is nature, growth, safety, harmony, fertility and freshness. It is said to have great healing power and is a very relaxing color (The "green" room in television is where guests wait to go on air. It is considered a serene and comfortable room and usually has drinks and food to make it more comfortable.) Cancer, with its nurturing personality, love of children and thriftiness (green is the color of money...) can make great use of this range of color.

Blue is also associated with nature: the sky and the sea. And as such, offers depth, stability, trust, loyalty, wisdom and truth. It is a caliming color and is attributed to the sign of Taurus and of Pisces but for different reasons. Taurus for its stability, expertise and solidity and Pisces for its spirituality, purity, healing and relationship to water. Blue supresses appetite so use it carefully around any food situation.

Purple is the perfect combination of stability (of blue) and force (or red) and therefore is associated with power, luxury, wealth and ambition. For Sagittarius it is the color of independence, creativity and magic and for Leo it is the color of royalty and extravagance. Children prefer purple to all other colors.

White conjures up feelings of purity, light, goodness and innocence. Obviously Virgo, with its emphasis on cleanliness, simplicity and virginity does well with this color. White is also high tech and coolness and can therefore work well with the Aquarian personality.

Black is associated with power, elegance and mystery, as is the astrological sign of Scorpio. It can give the feeling of strength, authority and prestige so Capricorn can also use this color to good effect. Since the color black changes perception (wearing a black dress can make you look thinner) you can use it to enhance other colors.
