Kindle 2: Perfect for New Age Readers

I love to load up my favorite new age books onto Kindle and now Kindle 2 has just launched! I can't do without my Kindle and I have heard that the new version of Kindle has a few great improvements. It is on back order -- the response has been great -- and many of the flaws in the previous version have been corrected. Things such as round buttons instead of those strange angular ones and smaller side buttons to avoid accidental page turns make the reading experience better.

Thinner, faster, a crisper display, and a longer (battery) life -- if I could make a new version of me, those are all improvements I'd want. And there is much more to love about this new Kindle. The Kindle 2 can hold more than 1,500 books (compared to 200 on the original), new buttons improve page turning and the new 5-way controller makes it easy to move around the screen. If you haven't had someone read to you since you were a child, you can rediscover the joy of just listening with Kindle's text-to-speech feature. There's lots of new technology involved which sounds good, but for a non-techie like me, I can't wait to just try it out for myself.

Horoscope for the Week of February 23, 2009

Twins appear to be able to do no wrong around the office. Your career prospects brighten this week. Press and impress the big wigs and see if you can get one of them to support some of your great (but currently inert) ideas. The corporate sky is the limit and your door of opportunity is small. Forget the long lunches unless it is to grease a big cog.

Are you planning a few get togethers this week? If not, you might want to start to do so. Archers find that there is no place like home. And not only that, home becomes an epicenter of activity. Lucky Numbers for week of February 20, 2009

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But I think it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes.

So with that in mind, I decided that we could use some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....?

I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of wealth.

Only Capricorns Need Apply

According to an article in the Daily Mail, seeking people of a certain astrology birth sign for a particular job is not as unusual as it may seem. Nor is it illegal, at least in Austria.

An insurance company based in Salzberg placed an ad for people to work in sales and management. But they specifically wanted only those applicants born under certain zodiac sun signs. The ad, posted major newspapers wanted applicants who were born under certain constellations, claiming statistics indicated that they were the best workers. 'We are looking for people over 20 for part-time jobs in sales and management  with the following star signs: Capricorn, Taurus, Aquarius, Aries and Leo,' read the ad that appeared over the weekend.

It was followed by a wave of protests from equality groups and led to an  investigation by the country’s anti-discrimination authorities. The company is, however, sticking to its guns and a spokesman explained that  the move was based on statistical research rather than superstition. 'A statistical study indicated that almost all of our best employees across Austria have one of the five star signs. 'We only decided to continue with that  system and hire the best workers,' the spokesman said.

An investigation by Austrian authorities showed that there was nothing illegal in  choosing the employees according to their star signs, as there was no  discrimination according to existing laws about gender, age, racial and other equality.

A spokeswoman for the employee’s association of Salzburg told local TV: 'When  an employer considers star signs and says: "I want to only hire Pisces, for an  example, it must be assumed that within this group of people born under the sign of Pisces there are old and young people, women and women etc. 'It does appear like a certain limitation, but it is not discrimination.'

DIY Spells: Money

The concept of spells and putting spells on people is interesting and, I admit, somewhat compelling. It gives us the feeling that we can control the unknown and seemingly uncontrollable future. I think that there is a bit of chance in this life but there is also a bit of personal control and motivation that can help make the bumps smoother and the opportunities greater. Let's call it Mind Over Matter.

Here is a "Do It Yourself" spell for Money that might help clear the cobwebs, focus our actions and create more good energy to flow in the right direction.

Money is a big issue nowadays. Job loss, market uncertainties and the ramifications of overall excess and greed have now taken their toll. Here is an exercise that I think helps exorcize the money demons:

1. Take 8 fresh green leaves. Leaves that are bendable and supple. Eight is a very mystical number. The Chinese say that 8 represents riches and bounty.

2. Arrange them in a circle with tips out, like a star.

3. Place this leaf star between your mattress and your boxspring in your bed, like a sandwich. If you don't have a boxspring, just place the leaf star under your mattress and whatever the mattress is resting on.

4.  Rest comfortably. Leave the star there until the leaves become dry.

5. Eventually remove the leaves and press them in a book for safekeeping. You can reuse when needed.

Of course ths is not the only thing you should do if you have money worries! But I have found that it helps to ease my mind and allows me to better concentrate on possible solutions.
