CANCER   (JUNE 22 - JULY 23)
Relationships may take up much more of you time than you are prepared to give. Crabs may ache for some time alone or with an entirely new crowd. But balance in this area of your life is an art now. Try to find the time to cement current partnerships as well as create new ones. The summer is young and there are too many hot summer nights to bake alone.

 

LEO   (JULY 24 - AUGUST 23)
Unexpected roadblocks pop up at work. What you thought would be an easy and mindless little project suddenly becomes the monster with eight legs. So if you can delegate, or even better, make yourself scarce around the office, try to do so. It is wonderful to be thought of as the go-to person around the office. Friends can go off the deep end in anything frothy or fun. Will you have to be the one to rein in the festivities? Don’t be surprised if pals come to you to give them grounding and direction,  Virgo. Juice up your home life, but it may be at the expense of your professional life. Don’t be surprised if you make a dramatic move based on very personal needs and desires. CAPRICORN   (DECEMBER 23 - JANUARY 20)
Expect certain relationships to infringe on your assorted comings and goings through the month. Caps don't like to ask permission. They prefer to be trusted to do the right thing and take personal responsibility for their antics. But others around you try to get into your act and direct you to their preferences. Patience is a virtue. How virtuous will you be now?

 

AQUARIUS   (JANUARY 21 - FEBRUARY 19)
There are those who are working behind the scenes who are waiting for their chance to strike. But Aquarians have a nice protective armor that will help thwart the worst of it. However, don't give ill-intentioned folks the chance to foul things up. Be watchful, don't lose your focus and get plenty of rest and exercise. Keep your stress down and your strength up.

 

PISCES   (FEBRUARY 20 - MARCH 20)
Allow your creativity to flow all through the month. Piceans with a great idea will find the right supporters and cheerleaders. It is a great time to try your hand at anything artistic or creative. However, you will be tempted to bite off more than you can chew now. Try to keep your appetite manageable so you can easily digest even the biggest mouthful.

Lucky Numbers for Week of May 29, 2009

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But I think it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes.

So with that in mind, I decided that we could use some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....?

I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of wealth.

“The Saturn Return”: The time in your life when Saturn becomes THE GREAT TEACHER.

Let me introduce you to Saturn, that gleaming green mysterious planet -- the one with the beautiful rings. You say that you’re familiar with Saturn? Well maybe in astronomically, but there is much more to it than that! Even with all its beauty, this planet is associated with some pretty tough stuff -- discipline, caution, wisdom gained through hard work, sorrow, loneliness, depression, fear and inadequacy. Even Mr. Webster writes in his dictionary that being “Saturnine is having a melancholy or surly disposition”.

Old world astrologers call this planet “Great Malefic”, meaning ill willed but we more enlightened astrologers prefer to be a bit more optimistic and call it “Great Teacher”. Indeed, Saturn helps us come to grips with our deepest fears and, if we face these fears head on, we emerge from this period of life stronger and more enlightened.

Saturn symbolizes things that frighten us or areas of our life in which we feel inadequate. During a particular Saturn cycle, we will face unavoidable situations that will push us to face our fears and provide a life lesson. Don’t ya just love those “life lessons”?

So when does this happen?
Saturn’s major influence in one’s lifetime occurs approximately every 29 years or so but the effect of the planet starts to creep up two years prior and last another year beyond (Saturn is a very slow moving fellow). The whole phase lasts for about three years. We astrologers call it “The Saturn Return”. Even the name has a dramatic ring to it -- just like “The Return of the Fly” and “The Return of the Blob”....

The Saturn Return heralds the end of a major life cycle and ushers in a period of great reevaluation, changes and endings. Are you living your life true to your own self or are you living for other people’s approval and expectations? Use this time to reappraise your life, whether it be in relationships, career, residence or family. Don’t begin anything new at this time (like a marriage) because there is just too much darn static on the line. Just use the time to reassess and ride the swelling tide.

Which house does Saturn sit in in your natal chart? That gives you a clue as to where most of this turmoil originates:
House 1  How you appear to others; First Impressions.
House 2  Money and finances. Your value system and items of value.
House 3  How you communicate. How you think. How you maneuver in your neighborhood.

House 12  Spirituality, hidden things such as personal secrets or hidden enemies.

The good part is, as this cycle comes to a close, you’ll begin to reap what you have sown. You see, it has a happy ending, just like in all those horror movies. Relax. Learn to expand your perspective and brace yourself for enforced changes, possible endings and ongoing challenges and crisis. Then make way for a time of new opportunities, new realizations, solidification and strengthening of foundations, new beginnings and maturity. Wisdom makes a great teacher.

Synthetic Telepathy

I have heard about mental telepathy and believe that some people may have this intuitive streak. And then I read about synthetic telepathy which is a type of computer programming that enables machines to think and "feel". Of course "feel' would be like a series a pre-programmed responses ... errr... I think.

According to a Futurist Magazine article earlier this year, there is a group a brilliant scientists and programmers who are trying to create a computer that feels on an emotional level. David Poeppel is a neuroscientist who is considered to be a master of synthetic techonolgy. He says all mental thoughts create an electronic signal that can be then transferred to a computer. The communication between a human brain and a computer could become telepathic commuication between human and machine.

I wonder what would happen if someone with psychic abilities was hooked into the computer in this way. Would the computer be able to better predict the future using these mental electronic signals coupled with computer-based strategic algorithims? I wonder...!!!
