Astrology By the Glass - Pisces

There are twelve of these "Astrology By the Glass" posts coming up over the next few months which describes each astrology sign's drinking habits and preferences. I found this in my file of favorite columns from various authors and sources. Unfortunately there is no byline and I have no idea who wrote this. So if you know who, please let me know and I will give full credit and a link. After reading this, check out The Intoxicated Zodiac for recipes by sign. Cheers!

PISCES (February 19- March 20)

Pisces Drinking style: If you're a Pisces, you've probably already heard that you share a sign -- and an addictive personality -- with Liz Taylor, Liza Minelli and Kurt Cobain. Not only do Pisces like to lose themselves in the dreamy, out-there feeling that only hooch can give, but they build up a mighty tolerance fast. Who needs an expensive date like that? On the other hand, they're fabulously enchanting partners, whether in conversation or in crime. With the right Pisces, you can start out sharing a pitcher of margaritas and wind up in bed together for days. The phrase "addictive personality" can be read two ways, you know.

Trademark Cocktails: Pisces rules fresh mint, and they do love a mojito or three - though a julep will do just as well. They also like punches, like sangria or the oh-so-aptly named fish house punch. (Pretty much anything will satisfy a Pisces in a pinch, though -- "drinking like a fish" is an idiom pulled out of the zodiac, not the deep blue sea.) Pisces is a chocoholic and loves creme de cacao (and spiked cocoa).

Drinking buddies: Drew Barrymore, Chastity Bono, Chelsea Clinton, Kurt Cobain, Edward Gorey, Queen Latifah, Liza Minelli, Anais Nin, Sharon Stone, Liz Taylor

ARIES   (MARCH 21 - APRIL 20)
Rams are not only interested in keeping secrets now, they are also willing to expose a few of them too. Consider carefully the things that absolutely need to be revealed so you an attain greater success and remove personl barriers. Other secrets are best kept chez nous until a later, more advantageous time. Which is which? Ah, that is the question!

TAURUS   (APRIL 21 - MAY 21)
This is the time to expand your social circle into a globe as well cement current friendships and be a bit of a popularity booster. Some of your contacts can bring you extra, unanticipated luck now. Some provide romantic excitement. Still others are just good sounding boards. And maybe one is a delightful combination of all three attributes?

GEMINI   (MAY 22 - JUNE 21)
Professional goals seem to take precedence over personal needs and desires so place yourself in the center of the corporate action and see what happens. You manage to dazzle the higher ups and discover inventive ways to gain a professional advantage. How high can you climb before you stumble? Find out. You may surprise yourself with your agility.

CANCER   (JUNE 22 - JULY 23)
If you have an increasingly narrow view of the world this is the time to get out of your shell and expand your vision. You benefit greatly by discovering new ways, new things and new folks. Expand your consciousness. Excite your mind and prepare to scramble your routine. Take some classes, travel, take a new route home from work. Hey whatever works.

LEO   (JULY 24 - AUGUST 23)
Lusty Lions can use their ample personal charisma to attract anyone they want. You can be very charming when you put effort into it.  So take a beady eyed look around you and see who catches your bead. Your world is your oyster, with all the trimmings and assorted spices. Just how big is your appetite? Tuck in and see if you want any extra salt ... or sugar.

VIRGO   (AUGUST 24 - SEPTEMBER 23)
Are your relationships as good and as strong as they should be? If the answer is yes, celebrate with your partner all through the next four weeks. If it is a less than yes answer, find ways to strengthen the bonds... or maybe not? For those Virgins who are in the meet market for new connections, use this time to spread your cheer... among other things.

LIBRA   (SEPTEMBER 24 - OCTOBER 23)
The job takes on a dramatic flair and you find unique ways to improve yourself. Apply all your focus to it. You may get even more traction with a good press campaign added to the mix. Looking good may take you farther than doing good in general now. Or maybe that is the way it always is and you are just wising up to it. Buff and tone at the gym just in case....

SCORPIO   (OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 22)
Tap into your creative reserves. A stary spark of genius can start a raging fire of opportunity. But before you burn the house down, see if you can harness all this artistic vibe into a project that can be a life’s masterpiece. This week you can build yourself a new future filled with energy and spark. By the spring  you will soar to new heights on your own rocket fuel.

SAGITTARIUS   (NOVEMBER 23 - DECEMBER 22)
Find ways of making your surroundings more comfortable and efficient. Archers may not be as domesticated as other folks but there might be something tugging at your apron strings now. Why not invest the time and money to showcase who you are and what you have? You may entice more busy bees to buzz around your hive to create more honey, honey.

CAPRICORN   (DECEMBER 23 - JANUARY 20)
Anything that you merely think about can immediately be on your lips. You may want to carefully consider how you approach life now. Keep an open mind and allow yourself the luxury of listening without commenting. Difficult, I know. But think of all the things that you want to accomplish behind the scenes. A bit of mystery might be a potent weapon, Cap.

AQUARIUS   (JANUARY 21 - FEBRUARY 19)
Aquarians will love to spend to the limit now and why not? When you have it, flaunt it. But what if you don’t have it? Ah there is the rub. Remember - You don’t have to spend big to live large. So find thriftier ways to do what you want when you want to at this time. Then you will have ample fund reserves to spend when you need to but may not want to.

PISCES   (FEBRUARY 20 - MARCH 20)
If you feel like you are the center of your universe, I would not be surprised. Pisces are in a swirl. You may have so much on your plate that you may tire of it and need to recapture your personal zest. Spend time with those who make you feel loved and special. Save the political glad handing for later in the month. Move and shake after you have relaxed and recharged.

Lucky Numbers for the Week of February 26, 2010

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But I think it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes.

So with that in mind, I decided that we could use some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....?

I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of wealth.

Here are the lucky numbers for the week of February 26 - March 4, 2010:

9, 11, 18, 28, 33, 43, 47, 51

There are many ways to delve into your own consciousness to find luck and intuition. Try reading Dream Power/Improve Your Luck (Super Strength Series) and see if your dreams give you any clues and premonitions.

Sigh....

Jay leno Just saw this old Jay Leno quote:

"Here's something to think about: How come you never see a headline like 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?"

I know this is supposed to be a joke but humor is found in situations that resonate in real life. And there are too many "psychics' out there who profess to be able to predict the future. My philosophy about astrology (and tarot too) is that it does not predict the future. We all have free will to make decisions that can impact our future all by ourselves. However the value of astrology and tarot is that they work like guidemaps to help illuminate the path ahead. We still have to decide on the direction and the speed but isn't it nice to know when there might be a detour or a pothole or a rare opportunity to proceed more quickly?

As one of my favorite astrologers, Bob Marks, always says, "Astrology is not fate. Astrology is like headlights in a car. You turn them on at night to see the road ahead of you. Driving without your car lights on a night? Now that is fate!"

There are a range of good books on the subject - some that have not been top of mind for twenty years. But here is a short list if you want to learn more:

Using Astrology to Choose the Best City to Relocate For A Job

The economy is in the dumps and the rate of unemployment, while possibly leveling off, has a nasty underside - that is that those who are out of work are having a very tough time finding work. So there is a long term joblessness that for some of us, may last years.

We are a mobile society in America. And now, with a relentless search for work, I have heard from many who are considering relocting to areas where there is a greater chance of finding a job. But exactly where? And when? Astrology is very good for timing and, if you use relocation analysis, it might help you choose the best place to move based on your own birthchart. Here is a list of criteria that I use when doing a job relocation astrology analysis:

WHAT I LOOK FOR IN A RELOCATION CHART FOR CAREER:

Midheaven: The MidHeaven is the sign that was directly overhead in the sky when you were born. The sign on the Midheaven indicates the energy that you can put into your career. For example: If you have Leo on the top of the chart in your birth chart it means that you love to be recognized for your efforts and achievements. In some cities, you have a different sign on the Midheaven which changes the dynamic of how you approach your professional goals.

Ascendant: The Ascendant is the sign that was on the horizon at the time you were born. It is first impressions at the acquaintance level. It also shows how you beginnew projects. In a relocation chart it indicates how you will begin in your new surroundings. Depending on how you would like to approach your new city, you may want affable and friendly Libra or intense and strategic Scorpio on the Ascendant.

The Sun: I like to see the Sun placed in the 10th house of career in relocated horoscope charts. Which would indicate to me that you will shine there and realize your goals professionally.

Saturn: Saturn is the planet of problems, wisdom gained through hard work and where we feel less confident. I would like to avoid seeing Saturn move in the 10th house of career, in the money sector or in the job sector in a relocated chart. Problems or lack of confidence could manifest in those areas.

Jupiter: Jupiter is luck and expansion. Just like the Sun, I would like to see Jupiter in the 6th house (your job), the 10th (career) or 2nd (money) in a relocation chart.

Vertex: A power point in the chart. Where you have extra oomph. I would like to see good aspects (connection) to the top of any relocation chart which indicates that your professional efforts have greater impact and power.

North Node of the Moon: “The Head of the Dragon”. It represents the direction in which your life is heading, the lessons we need to learn in our lives and methods by which we may create harmony and enhance our personal development. Also represents the future. So I like to see a city chosen for a horoscope relocation chart where you have good angles from your North Node to the top of the chart or at least no difficult angles.

Grand Cross (or other difficult birth chart aspect angles): If an astrology birth chart has a “Grand Cross” or other difficult aspects, it can create stress. I would like difficlut aspects to be placed in the chart so that no stress is hidden or can blindside you professionally.

Uranus: Planet of explosive surprises. Would like to see Uranus making a good aspect (or at least no a difficult aspect) to the top of the chart so that all surprises are in sync with your career goals. Since this is a lesser consideration than other planets, even a harder aspect is not a reason to avoid a particular city.

Moon: Emotions. Where your heart resides. Great to see it placed in work related areas of your chart and making good angles to the top of your chart.

No chart for a city will have all of these characteristics but we would choose the city that has the best and strongest strengths with the least amount of weaknesses or stress. And even if the chart has some stress, it is good to know about it before the move so you can be prepared.
