Horoscope for the Week of May 17, 2010

AaliyahMore often than not, breakthroughs occur through earth shaking serendipity. But retrograding Saturn may have made all potential opportunities just a little too much to risk. Saturn redirects in the next weeks and we reap those languishing rewards. And who knows what new surprises are in store. Hey, want to supersize it?

Let’s agree to call a moratorium on exercise, dieting and anything that requires exertion. Summer is coming and you can certainly use some relaxing down time. Resistance is futile anyway; fattening goodies come your way because you have been so, so dilligent. Rams are usually paragons of strength but you are now reduced to mush... topped with whipped cream.

TAURUS   (APRIL 21 - MAY 21)
Some of us play the violin exceptionally well while others are relegated to rear stage tambourine tapping. Whatever your level of talent, the cosmos demands that you attend to it with relish. A little hot sauce couldn’t hurt either, Bull, as romantic possibilities seem to seep out of every platonic opportunity. Don’t forget the crescendo to your concert, lover....

GEMINI   (MAY 22 - JUNE 21)
How many times will you arrange and rearrange the furniture, Twin? This week things still look in disarray and transitory. The temptation is to keep moving things around until they form a sensible, stable composition. But that ain’t gonna happen now. Resign yourself to constant change and haphazardness for the time being. Format and consolidate later this month.

CANCER   (JUNE 22 - JULY 23)
Crabs manage to rearrange the landscape with a few choice words. Charming you are not, especially this week. Now, as the craziness becomes clear, you may find that your words are as incendiary as usual but with more beneficially impactful results. Thinking of nailing your personal manifesto to the wall? Just don’t hit your thumb.

LEO   (JULY 24 - AUGUST 23)
Leos have been very thrifty recently. Let’s face facts, you might have been downright cheap. But I suspect that you have your reasons as your fiscal safety net looks a bit moth eaten. You have opportunities to consolidate your earnings and prepare for a happier fiscal future this week. Hold on tight. The next few months will shape up to be quite a bull run for you.

There is more than enough excitement going on in your life with its assorted ups and downs. Virgins can make rather strong first impressions and decide to totally revamp their look on a whim. Normally that would mean a new haircut or wardrobe but now you might pour on the greasepaint and the feathers. Be who you think you really are, warts and all.

The lesson to be learned is to clean out your assorted bag of secrets before the fates conspire to do so for you. Surprises and deeply repressed secrets hit the daylight. While Libras would prefer to hide behind their comfortable fig leaf, you could be stripped naked. Every pimple is magnified and paraded before the judges. How will you stack up? Ah, knock ‘em over.

Life may have delivered a series of unpleasant revelations about   certain compadres. How often in the past months have you found yourself yearning to be somewhere else rather than with the usual gang of idiots? Scorps now find the spark of genius in their current circles or seek the electric charms of new flames. Just how much voltage do you need for your monster?

Even the most agile Archer might have tripped up professionally. If you found yourself stepping in dirty piles of your own making, it is time to brush off your tap shoes and try, try again. This week you may find that even though things are still fairly unpredictable, the buffalo chips will at least fall around you rather than on you. And that is a huge relief.

Travel may have been more trouble than pleasure over the past few months. But beginning towards the end of this week, you experience a much more pleasant and useful sort of jaunt. Open up your field of possibilities. There something more for you out there. In fact, there is much more than you ever expect and nothing that you can’t handle.

Sirens lured hapless sailors to their deaths. Be warned: Someone  calls to you in a sweetly seductive voice but try to tie yourself to the mast and resist. Sexual liaisons during the next few weeks  can bring madness-prone Aquarians to the brink of insanity.  Don’t lose your head for just another pretty face. Did I say head? I meant mind.

There is nothing selfish about wanting your own way when it has become a deeply personal quest. The problem comes in when you make petty demands as a test of leverage in a relationship. Fish risk tipping the balance for something less than monumental. Things shift but that just means that the falling anvil misses your tail. It will still fall if pushed.

Lucky Numbers for the week of May 14, 2010

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But I think it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes.

So with that in mind, here are some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....?

I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of wealth.

Here are the lucky numbers for the week of May 14, 2010:

5, 34, 37, 52, 56, 69, 71, 73

There are many ways to delve into your own consciousness to find luck and intuition. Try reading Dream Power/Improve Your Luck (Super Strength Series) and see if your dreams give you any clues and premonitions. Here's a guide to the best books available this month.

Astrology Lesson 8 - THE LAST WORD

Astrology is not a mystery - it can be learned. So every Thursday I post the ABCs of Astrology, offering the basics of astrology. Last Thursday, we looked at the Aspectsthat the signs in their planets in the hosues make in a natal chart. Today in this final lesson, we see how it all adds up - how houses, signs, planets and aspects helpd you analyze a personality.

We have now reviewed all the major components of astrological analysis -

Part 1 - Introduction to the Chart Wheel
 Part 2 - The Houses
 Part 3 - The Planets
 Part 4 - Signs
Part 5 - Planets in Signs
Part 6 - Planets in Signs in Houses
Part 7 - Angles aka Aspects
 Part 8 - The Finale

Astrology has many areas of analysis. Here are just a few applications:

1. We can examine someone's personality based upon their time, place and date of birth (this is called natal astrology).
2. We can analyze the maturation or growth of an individual (called progressions).
3. We can ascertain certain outside pressures and future activities affecting an individual's chart (called transits).
4. We can analysis an event, such as an earthquake or the outbreak of the Gulf War (called mundane astrology).
5. We can ask a question at a certain point in time (called horary astrology).
6. We can analyze the financial markets (called financial astrology).

The most common use of astrology is the personality analysis. It offers insight, guidance and answers to many questions. There are even some psychologists and psychiatrists that use the natal chart wheel to get to the heart of problems that the patient may not be able to relate through therapy.

Each persons' chart is unique because no one is born at the exact same time in the exact same place.  We are all different with special needs, aspirations and joys. Astrology, in tandem with environment and genetics, help us form our personalities.  What we do with all the information is up to us.

Astrology has had a long and diverse history. One of the earliest records of some form of astrology has been found in ancient Egypt, but astrology is also part of the Kabbalah.

I hope this gets you started. Please email me any questions. Here is my favorite book on astrology and a "must" for anyone interested in learning more: Secrets from a Stargazer's Notebook: Making Astrology Work for You and here's a guide to the best books available this month.

Ring Tone Therapy

Smell cell phone Ring tone therapy is becoming all the rage in Japan which is on the cutting edge of cell phone usage. A company called Japan Ringing Tone Laboratory claims that they are developing a series of ring tones that will help hay fever sufferers and even those who are overweight.

The Japan Ringing Tone Laboratory is led by Matsumi Suzuki, an expert in voiceprint technology. To use these so-called "therapeutic" ring tones all you have to do is to wait for a call from your mobile phone. For hay fever sufferers, the sound of the ring tone is supposed to dislodge pollen if the user holds the handset up to their nose. Another therapeutic ring tone is for those trying to lose weight.

While this is all very interesting, it is not totally proven out. However just for fun, I like Lab's  astrological rings tones. The Lab offers a range specially tailored for the needs of people with different astrology star signs, such as one for Taurus, the bull, complete with mooing.

As for me, I will try my luck with all sorts of ring tones to see what works for what.
