Radio Waves From Outer Space

The New Scientist reports that we are receiving radio waves from a far distant universe that could be indicating some form of life out there. The waves are coming from a nearyby galaxay called M82 and is something that scientists have never seen before.

The pulse is very different from other waves and is not fading or changing in any way. It is leading scientists to believe that there is life in this faraway galaxy. The weird thing is that this radio emission does not fit the pattern of previous radio emissions from supernovae. Those usually get brighter over a few weeks and then fade away over months. This new source has hardly changed in brightness over the course of a year, and its spectrum is steady.
Yet it does seem to be moving – and fast: its apparent sideways velocity is four times the speed of light.

So what is this thing? Scientists are baffled. Some think it is a dying star or some other object of debris that is emitting some type of magnetic force. But no one is sure.
