Astrology By the Glass - Sagittarius

Sagittarius There are twelve of these "Astrology By the Glass" posts coming up over the next few months which describes each astrology sign's drinking habits and preferences. I found this in my file of favorite columns from various authors and sources. Unfortunately there is no byline and I have no idea who wrote this. So if you know who, please let me know and I will give full credit and a link. After reading this, check out The Intoxicated Zodiac for recipes by sign. Cheers!

SAGITTARIUS (November 21- December 20)

Drinking Style: In vino veritas -- and, for Sagittarius, in booze blurtiness: When buttered, they'll spill all your secrets and many of their own. Tactlessness aside, Sagittarius is just plain fun to drink with. This is a sign of serious partying (what else would you expect from the sign of Sinatra, Keith Richards, the Bush twins and Anna Nicole Smith?). They're the people who chat up everyone in the room, then persuade the entire crowd to travel somewhere else -- like a nightclub, or a playground, or Cancun. Good-natured hijinks are sure to ensue (including a high possibility of loopy groping; spontaneous Sag is a brilliant booty call).

Trademark cocktails: A travel-loving sign, Sagittarius might be intrigued by drinks like Moscow mules, Singapore slings -- perhaps even a Long Island iced tea (not a bad option, given how much Sag can put away and still stay vertical). Party monsters that they are, they're attracted to shots, like the ever-popular lemon drop. Sag rules pears, and could use a nice pear cider right about now, come to think of it.

Drinking buddies: The Bush twins, Margaret Cho, Noel Coward, Betty Ford, Lucy Liu, Brad Pitt, Keith Richards, Frank Sinatra, Anna Nicole Smith, Britney Spears

Welcome the Astrology Sign of Sagittarius

Jon stewart On November 23, 2010 the Sun enters the zodiac sign of Sagittarius the Centaur (aka The Archer) and welcomes a 30 day period of energy, humor, honesty, luck and overall fun. Sagittarians sun sign natives are known to be great travelers and explorers - always interested in new things and different cultures. They are also fairly robust but not always graceful and delicate. ANd they love to voice their opinions whether others want to hear it or not.

(Jon Stewart is a famous Sagittarius)

Sagittarians love life and all that it offers. They can be the life of the party - until they upend the punchbowl and accidently knock over the party favors. But despite their lack of grace, they are innately lucky and manage (usually) to land on their feet, even if they trip along the way. Don't piss them off though - they have sharp honest tongues and can say things that will skewer any opponent. Their careful observations and wit can get them to the heart of any matter.

Sagittarians have been called the bachelor signs because they tend to behard to pin down. But it is not impossible to lasso these Centaurs! The best way for you to attract an independent Sagittarius is to give them free reign and lots of room to roam. Clinginess will not work. Trust them to do the right and honest thing ... and they will. They will not lie to you and will give you all the loyalty you need as long as you give them what they need.

Famous folks with Sun in Sagittarius are:

John Kennedy Jr

Cyrus Miley

Jon Stewart

Ben Stiller

Mos Def

Lucky Luciano

Horoscope for the Week of November 22, 2010

Elisha Cuthbert The Sun wends into Sagittarius and rubadubs rowdy Mars now. Prepare for an intensity of purpose, a sense of control and a yearning for accomplishment this week. We are infused with spit and fire. Just avoid light sockets.

ARIES   (MARCH 21 - APRIL 20)
Rams are more comfortable bossing folks around while in the comfort of familiar surroundings but now the fates send you packing. This week you will boldly go forth to explore and experience. Hit the road. Study, travel and adopt a global cause. You have nothing to lose except your myopic self absorption and a duffel bag of yesterday’s stale old ideas.

TAURUS   (APRIL 21 - MAY 21)
Your sex drive accelerates into overdrive so expect a drag race of love. Physical intimacy is especially mind blowing now, Taurus. And where does all this action take place? Don’t be surprised if your corporate ascent is littered with the remains of your ill-advised conquests. My advice; destroy the love emails before they come back to haunt you.

GEMINI   (MAY 22 - JUNE 21)
Twins try to strengthen partnerships and get a few of their buttons pushed in the process. Delve into what will and will not make you happy and see if who you have is who you want and who you deserve. If so, go for the gusto and show that special someone what special really means. If not,  plan a safari to bag the quarry of your choice. The hunt is on...

CANCER   (JUNE 22 - JULY 23)
It may not sound particularly exciting, but you may find your  job almost exhilarating this week. Crabs map out the perfect strategy that launches any project in the right direction. But a word of warning - take health and exercise regimes seriously. You want to be in tip top shape when a certain you-know-who tempts your sweet tooth. How much sugar can you eat, sugar?

LEO   (JULY 24 - AUGUST 23)
Prepare for a rush of invitations, Leo. This week brings more action than your social calendar has seen in a while. The possibilities are endless. It is a time to see and be seen, especially when the fates conspire to make you especially desirable and alluring. Oh hurry before the rose colored smoke clears and they see you in your oldy moldy underwear.

VIRGO   (AUGUST 24 - SEPTEMBER 23)
The tension increases on the job and you may be worn down to a nubby stub trying to get everything done. If you have your way, you recharge by whiling away your precious weekends zoning out in front of the tube with a tub of popcorn. Resist the temptation and get a bit of action going by  planning a few intimate get togethers through the week. Tub-a-rub with a friend.

LIBRA   (SEPTEMBER 24 - OCTOBER 23)
Words pack a punch so let it all hit the air this week. Libras possess sharp minds and now you are on point with some compelling ideas. Spread your opinions around. But before you slip your lip, the fates make some other plans. You can be easily tempted to squander your best ideas on questionable pastimes and trashy company. Only, that is, if you are lucky!

SCORPIO   (OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 22)
Are you ready to take a good hard look at your finances? Scorpio, you have gone on far too long with a ragged excuse for a bank account. Haven’t you ever heard of saving for a rainy day? This week gives you an umbrella. Take control of your monetary fund and don’t hedge. You need to build your nest egg and proper feathering never comes cheap.

SAGITTARIUS   (NOVEMBER 23 - DECEMBER 22)
How hot is hot? Archers singe the scenery and are catapulted  into center stage. You have oodles of confidence and are poised to  make a great first impression. It is time to begin new projects and become the master of your domain. And, as luck would have it, your every sentence is now charged with authority and energy. Ah, but is that a tornado or just a gust of hot air?

CAPRICORN   (DECEMBER 23 - JANUARY 20)
Caps can adjust their turban and funnel all their intensely intuitive thoughts into action. The next week can bring a series of interesting revelations if you stop and quietly listen to your inner voice. Go with the cosmic flow especially when opportunities knock on some impressive potential income from all this psychic stuff. Buddy can you spare a divine?

AQUARIUS   (JANUARY 21 - FEBRUARY 19)
Stoke friendships and increase your potential for valuable social connections. This is no time to be shy, Aquarian. If you have been ambivalent about joining a particularly selective group, you are now given a benevolent push to become part of their inner sanctum. You may even find yourself creating and manipulating the group dynamic. Show ‘em how it’s done baby!

PISCES   (FEBRUARY 20 - MARCH 20)
Professional aspirations get a welcomed jolt this week. Pisces feel the urge to stir up issues with authority figures but consider a modification of this aggressive strategy. Plot and plan before you pounce. You can get your way without being obviously pushy. The subtle approach will be a far more effective way of getting the extreme results you seek. Heh heh....

Lucky Numbers for the Week of November 19, 2010

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But I think it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes.

So with that in mind, here are some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....?

I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of wealth.

Here are the lucky numbers for the week of November 19-25, 2010:

2, 18, 30, 31, 44, 51, 59, 63

There are many ways to delve into your own consciousness to find luck and intuition. Try reading Dream Power/Improve Your Luck (Super Strength Series) and see if your dreams give you any clues and premonitions. Here's a guide to the best books available this month.

Onomancy

I have practiced onomancy but I thought it was called one's name number in numerology. Thankfully A Word A Day provides clarification in definition, pronumciation and uses.

Onomancy

 PRONUNCIATION: (ON-uh-man-see)

MEANING: noun: Divination by the letters of a name.
ETYMOLOGY: From Greek onoma- (name) + -mancy (divination). Earliest recorded use: 1603.

NOTES: Some parents name their children after careful consideration of onomancy to assure the best possible future for them. Some people alter the spelling of their names or adopt a new name in an effort to bring good fortune. Science fiction writer Isaac Asimov wrote a short story, "Spell My Name with an S", with this theme. The story was inspired by his frustration in having to ask people to spell his name (pronounced AZ-uh-mof) correctly.

USAGE: "Kaplan and Bernays taught me all sorts of unexpected things about my name. They inspired me to try my hand at alphanumeric onomancy, in which the letters of a name are assigned numerical value, then added up to reveal occult facts about its owner."
Adam Goodheart; Naming Names: An Appellation Spring; The Washington Post; Feb 3, 1997.
