The Fashion Tarot?

Marc jacobs tarot Tarot, which has always been a mysterious backroom type of activity is suddenly on the runway and in the public eye. According to the New York Times, there is a new exhibition at the National Arts Club. Some of the world’s leading creatives have designed a new tarot deck. This exhibit, curated by Stacy Engman, is called “Contemporary Magic: A Tarot Deck Art Project” and features the minor and major arcana as reinterpreted by 78 art and fashion world luminaries who were each matched with a card based on themes that recur in their work. Here are some of the cards and their "creators" - Karl Lagerfeld (King of Wands), Marc Jacobs (Knight of Pentacles - pictured to your left), John Currin (Ten of Cups) and Tracey Emin (the Empress).

“Contemporary Magic: A Tarot Deck Art Project” runs through Nov. 30.

However if your taste runs into the pure and mystical, here are some interesting tarot decks. Check out the link here - assorted tarot decks.

Horoscope for the Week of November 15, 2010

Jane birkin Mars in Sagittarius sure knows a thing or two. So it is now your job to not only learn a thing or two but to also put it all into action this week. Use what you know to get one over on who you know. You know what I mean?

(Jane Birkin has Mars in Sagittarius)

Never miss your horoscope again -- free sign up here. Here is my favorite book on astrology and a "must" for anyone interested in learning more: Secrets from a Stargazer's Notebook: Making Astrology Work for You and here's a guide to the best books available this month.

ARIES   (MARCH 21 - APRIL 20)
Life lessons are often hard to accept but are often the most useful for your long term personal growth. Rams find a few of these supposed growth benefits in the unlikeliest of places this week. The world is your oyster. The challenge will be to see if you can find the pearl rather than the speck of sand. Of course, with enough specks you can create a sandstorm...

TAURUS   (APRIL 21 - MAY 21)
Those in power positions seem to hold their sway with you this week. They hold tantalizing rewards out just beyond your reach and keep telling you what to do in a quiet but persistent way. If you begin to feel exploited or manipulated begin to find the diplomatic way to gently undo their tenticles and make your own decisions. Be kind. You may need them one of these days.

GEMINI   (MAY 22 - JUNE 21)
Carefully survey your personal landscape. You can now discern friend from foe because your enemies are working out in the open. Grab the opportunity to stop them in their tracks. This week you not only have the energy and the drive, you also have the precision. Go get ‘em, Twin. Take no prisoners ... unless they are gorgeous.

CANCER   (JUNE 22 - JULY 23)
If there ever was a good time to totally revamp or change your health regime, this is the time. Crabs who are feeling listless and tired manage to summon up the will power and the wherewithal to get themselves in shape and re-energized. And not a moment too soon. Party season is about to begin and you want to be in tip top shape. Make that tip to top.

LEO   (JULY 24 - AUGUST 23)
Lions who are on the prowl can pounce on a flirty, dirty romance this week. So kick back and have just have fun. Find ways to fill up your down time with a range of creative outlets. The possibilities can turn into probabilities. But look before you leap. You could overdo it and take unnecessary risks for your assorted jollies. But then again, isn’t that the point?

VIRGO   (AUGUST 24 - SEPTEMBER 23)
Virgins may be content to hang around the house this week. But they will not be content to just laze their days away. Let’s find any excuse to stir up the dust and change your surroundings. You have great energy reserves and are raring and ready to do what needs to be done to make your home a showplace. Then turn around and sell it for a profit!

LIBRA   (SEPTEMBER 24 - OCTOBER 23)
If there is a war of words this week, you would win it hands down. Libras with a bone to pick and can clunk it on the heads of their opponents. And those with great idea can catapult it into the stratosphere. So don’t be shy and retiring - Get your voice heard above the fray. There is nothing that you can’t do and this is the time to do it. So why not just do it.

SCORPIO   (OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 22)
Scorps have an uncanny eye for making money and now is a good time to turn up the volume on your dough-a-meter. See if you can increase your profits and decrease your losses while you are focused on your bottom line. Of course your gaze may wander to someone elses bottom line but that is an entirely different set of personal assets to evaluate.

SAGITTARIUS   (NOVEMBER 23 - DECEMBER 22)
You have amazing magnetism this week. Not only do you feel especially energetic and ambitious, you also have a powerful pull around others. Hurray and make it work for you before this personality blast scatters and dissipates. Plan a soiree and mingle with the power elite. Don’t nurse your drink in a corner and wait to be asked to dance. Boogie down.

CAPRICORN   (DECEMBER 23 - JANUARY 20)
Caps have a spark of intuition as they seem to just know what will happen before it happens. This is particularly useful for fending off hidden enemies and putting an end to any surprising roadblocks in your path. So relax and recharge while you have a protective third eye. Try some yoga or meditation or even some astrology. Predict the future... if you can.

AQUARIUS   (JANUARY 21 - FEBRUARY 19)
Gather your friends together for a good old get together. Aquarians have been too solitary as of late and have been a little too sedate. Happily, this week adds a few extra dates to your social calendar and plops you right in the center of all the activity. Don’t expect to sit back and have it delivered to you. Prepare to be elected the leader of the pack. Where will it lead?

PISCES   (FEBRUARY 20 - MARCH 20)
Corporate politics take center stage. Pisces with a professional gleam in their eye find opportunities to sparkle around the power elite. Consider what you want and where you want to go. Then make your position known. Show the bosses how you are boss material. That may mean creating an unfair advantage over competitors. Hey that is how the game is played.

Lucky Numbers for the Week of November 12, 2010

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But I think it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes.

So with that in mind, here are some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....?

I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of wealth.

Here are the lucky numbers for the week of November 12-18, 2010:

14, 16, 28, 29, 37, 35, 54, 76

There are many ways to delve into your own consciousness to find luck and intuition. Try reading Dream Power/Improve Your Luck (Super Strength Series) and see if your dreams give you any clues and premonitions. Here's a guide to the best books available this month.

Paul The Psychic Octopus

Paul the psychic octopus Paul the Psychic Octopus who correctly picked eight of eight correct match winners in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa quietly passed away in his tank this past week. Paul was an elderly 2 1/2 years old and was a resident at the Sea Life aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany.

Paul's abilities were world renowned and his predictive technique was unusual. There was no crystal ball or tarot deck required. Paul predicted by mussel when his handlers dip two, clear square boxes containing a mussel each into Paul's aquarium. The boxes were decorated with the flags of each country in the match. Whichever box Paul opened was deemed the likely winner. Eight of eight tries. Amazing.

Paul and his predictive poly arms will be missed.
