Amy Winehouse

Amy winehouse Amy Winehouse, a talented artist, died from a drug overdose this week. She was 27 years old.

From an astrological perspective 27 is an auspicious age since it is the threshold of the Saturn Return. Think how many talented artists died during their first Saturn Return ages 27-30. I can immediately think of Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and Keith Haring.

This is not to say that The Saturn Return causes people to die. What it means is that we can get very caught up in our own heads during our three year Saturn Return where we may feel frustrated and lost. It is a highly sensitive time. But it is also an important growth period. The time should be used to learn more about yourself - what you really want out of life and what you need to do to get there.

According to the site www.librarising.com, Amy Winehouse had the following birth information;

Born: Amy Jade Winehouse, September 14, 1983, time unknown, Southgate, London, England.

She has: Sun in Virgo, Moon in Sagittarius, Mercury in Virgo, Venus in Leo, Mars in Leo, Jupiter in Sagittarius, Saturn in Scorpio, Uranus in Sagittarius, Neptune in Sagittarius, Pluto in Libra

While there is a part of her that craves neatness, stability and conservatism (all Sun in Virgo attributes) women tend to live their moon sign until after their Saturn Return is over at age 30. So she behaved more like her Moon in Sagiattarius - independent, open, honest, lots of fun and anti-authoritative.  Add to that her Mars (energy) and Venus (love) in dramatic Leo and you have a fiery personality who loves and craves the limelight. Through all of this she thought in a practical manner (Mercury in Virgo) and crafted a greatly successful career in a relatively short amount of time.

Amy had many planets in Sagittarius (Moon, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune) which made great aspects (trines) to her Leo planets of Venus and Mars. So much iconoclastic energy (Sagittarius) giving a positive outlet to her energies (Mars) and her affections (Venus). She was loved by her public and channeled much of her energies into being a very successful songstress and composer.

So what happened? Without her birth time it is hard to see what energies were playing out in what astrological houses in her chart. But here are some thoughts based on aspects. She had many aspects iner horoscope indicating a volitile and energetic personality. Here are some:

Mars conjunct Venus - actions for love produce a firecraker effect.

Sun conjunct Mercury - mission in life can be communicated forcefully and effectively.

Pluto conjunct Saturn - Problems (Saturn) can cause dramatic transformative changes (Pluto). ALso, learning from your mistakes can turn your life around and bring monumental changes.

Jupiter conjunct Uranus - Large scale luck and expansion  (Jupier) comes hand in hand with explosive almost uncontrollable change (Uranus).

I was a great fan of Amy Winehouse and will miss her.
