Predictions by Statistics - December

If you believe as I do that astrology is another form of personality profiling, then you might also believe that regular math and statistics can also help to predict the future. Here are some Spring and Summer statistical predictions of human behavior as reported in the New York Post. This data was culled from various scientific sources:

 

DECEMBER:

Most likely to break up If you’re still with your honey, you’ve already cleared the biggest hurdle of the year for breakups. British author, designer and obsessive data collector David McCandless recently analyzed more than 10,000 Facebook status updates to see if there were any patterns when couples tend to split up. He found the two weeks leading up to Christmas are by far the most popular time to separate, followed by spring break and the weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day. Mondays, in general, are also a popular time to use the “we need to talk” line. “This ties into the whole stress of the holiday season,” Kruger weighs in. “The holidays are supposed to be a time of celebration, but there’s so much we have to do for it that it just becomes a burden and stressful.” There are limitations to the results, however — for example, it might take people a few days or weeks to update their relationship statuses.

CHRISTMAS DAY:

Least likely to break up On the flip side, according to the Facebook study, you’re pretty safe on Christmas Day, so breathe easy, open some presents and sip some eggnog, knowing your relationship has weathered the dreaded holiday season. “This is when everyone is getting together and celebrating the holidays. You just want to avoid that [breaking up] situation,” Kruger says. The dog days of August are also a low-risk time for breakups, according to the study.

Horoscope for Month of December 2011 and Week of November 28, 2011

We go in holiday over-drive this week. December looms, starting with Thanksgiving and moving quickly into Christmas mindset mode. Ho ho ho. The planets are not only jolly but generous. GEMINI   (MAY 22 - JUNE 21)
Although you love to play coy, even you will be caught up in the game of love now. And what a game it will be! Secret admirers who have been biding their time to make their move will now make their move. All of a sudden you are the one to meet, greet and sweet talk. Can you handle all this adoration without it going to your head? Ho ho ho.

CANCER   (JUNE 22 - JULY 23)
Prepare for a rush of holiday inspired festivities that will enliven current relationships and maybe even create new and exciting ones. Store up your energy so you can last through the new year in party mode. And in that time you will find ways to expand your list of friends and try out some new organizations. How about Occupy the Nearest Party?

LEO   (JULY 24 - AUGUST 23)
When it comes to your career, the bigger the better now. Leos find that a particular professional project opens a big door of opportunity at work. Showcase your talents to the big wigs and see where it can lead. Of course you might just decide to keep a few pet projects tucked under your hat. All the better to hide your own big wig designs.

VIRGO   (AUGUST 24 - SEPTEMBER 23)
What is it that inspires you, Virgo? You will find out this week as you get drawn into several different types of artistic ventures. And you know what they say - Nothing ventured, nothing gained. So explore, experiment and take a risk. It may not all succeed but so what? Your creativity hits a high note, even if you can’t sing. So avoid carolling.

LIBRA   (SEPTEMBER 24 - OCTOBER 23)
Deck your home with not only Holly but a bunch of other friends. Get into the holiday party scene and make a scene. Not only will you have several weeks of home entertaining ahead of you, you will also be able to reconnect with long lost relatives. Try your hand at genealogy. Who knows what buried treasure lies at the foot of the family tree? Or is it a secret?

SCORPIO   (OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 22)
Let your words fall like early sugarplums now. You will need to be especially diplomatic and coaxing in many of your relationships. And this is because you are angling for some pretty big end of year favors. Certainly an expensive gift could help pave the way to your eventual success even more so than mere words. But that is up to you, Scorpio.

SAGITTARIUS   (NOVEMBER 23 - DECEMBER 22)
You will work hard for what you get but that should not be a concern to you because you are indeed working hard right now. And there is a light at the end of the work tunnel. All your efforts can pay off and you will be well heeled for the holiday season. So eat, drink and be very merry now Sagittarius. Even rats on a treadmill deserve a coffee break.

CAPRICORN   (DECEMBER 23 - JANUARY 20)
If there was anyone who could use a good party it is you, Capricorn. So don your party hearty hat and plug into the holiday party circuit. It is time to see and be seen. And you can even make a scene. All is forgiven because you are so dynamic, charismatic and engaging now. I think the wire hanger holding the mistletoe over your head is a very nice touch.

AQUARIUS   (JANUARY 21 - FEBRUARY 19)
There is a lot bubbling below the surface that is waiting to burst out. Secrets should be shared ... and why not? It will make you seem all knowing and mysterious. And that can be very attractive. Plan some festive surprises at home with some good friends and family and don’t be surprised if you are surprised yourself. Why am I not surprised?

PISCES   (FEBRUARY 20 - MARCH 20)
Your desire to make a name for yourself becomes an obsession. And maybe that oomph is what you need to finally get some long dormant plans launched. Talk to advisors and do your research. You have toiled too long in the background and now you deserve some recognition. Success is at hand, Pisces. See if you can transfer from the hand to the wallet.

MERCURY RETROGRADE NOVEMBER - DECEMBER 2011

Just in time for Thanksgiving, Mercury goes retrograde on Weds November 23 at 11:20 pm EST at 20 degrees 6 minutes of Sagittarius and turns direct on Tues December 13 at 8:44 pm EST at 3 degrees 51 minutes of Sagittarius.

 

Mercury rules information, paperwork and data. Communications slow down considerably while Mercury is retrograde and it would be best to avoid signing off on deals and contracts during this period. If you absolutely must, then read the fine print very carefully. It’s easier to miss details now and find out later that you’re committed to something you might regret.

 

Along with Mars, Mercury rules moving parts. It’s not the best of times for buying anything mechanical: cars, computers, clocks and so on. If forced to replace something pay attention to your warranty, as you might not have to wait too long to use it.

 

Sagittarius is the sign of travel and its likely there could be delays due to mechanical or weather problems. Make your plans or buy your tickets beforehand and try to leave afterwards. Getting back and forth to Grandma’s house for Thanksgiving could be complicated. So give yourself extra time and lots of leeway.

 

In the body Sagittarius rules the sciatic nerve, and the hips. Emphasis on these parts of the body come to the fore, so slow down and take your time exercising and clearing snow.

 

Mercury rules the lungs, and Sagittarius governs exhalation and its opposite sign Gemini rules inhalation. Retrograde energy is internalized and those susceptible to asthma and other breathing problems should be particularly careful and avoid smoky fires and damp and moldy conditions.

 

Mercury will next be retrograde from March 12 to April 4, 2012 and July 14 to August 4, 2012.
