Lucky Numbers for the Week of May 31, 2013

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes. So with that in mind, here are some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....?

I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of wealth.

Mad Men and the i-Ching

I am a fan of the AMC program Mad Menand love it when they insert new age elements into their script, such as the Tarot reading in 2008.

Well Matt Weiner and his great team of writers did it again on the May 19, 2013 episode of Mad Men with the character of Wendy casting the i-Ching.Many of us fans try to "read: the intent of the series and I am not different. i-Ching is the Book of Changes - the need to progress to the next phase of life - and this episode in particular demonstrates changes and transitions: The death and funeral of one of the agency partners, the end of Don's affair with Sylvia, how Don's childhood impacts his relationships today and how he has not progressed from it, how Peggy has progressed emotionally in her approach to relationships.

As the Gothamist wrote:

Wendy the flower child is reading everyone's I Ching coins (she used bronze Chinese cash coins from the Song Dynasty). In the 1960s, the I Ching was all over pop culture: it showed up in the soap opera Dark Shadows, and in the Wonder Woman comic book (when an elderly mentor known as "I Ching" is introduced). And George Harrison, who composed The Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (recorded in 1968) said he "picked up a book at random, opened it, saw 'gently weeps,' then laid the book down again and started the song." You can throw your own coins (instructions), or throw them virtually right here... but "if you don't take the I Ching seriously, it will not work."

As it turns out, I just virtually tossed my i-ching coins and my result was Expansion and Progress. Yes, I believe.

Triple Conjunction - Venus, Mercury and Jupiter

Today we experience a rare occurance - the close conjunction of Mercury, Venus and Jupiter in Gemini.

Astrologically it indicates that our hearts and minds can spur us to great impactful ideas, communications and actions that may prove to be lucky. Where this expanison and luck occurs depends on where these planets sit in your personal birth chart. Gemini energy is all thoughts and communication blended with a great sociability. Astonomically, it can be described this way, according to Reuters: Venus, the second-closest planet to the sun, and Jupiter are tens of millions of miles apart. But they have been cycling together while moving ever closer to each other this month, joined by the innermost planet Mercury. The celestial show peaks today when the trio will appear as a bright triangle of light in the western sky beginning about 30 minutes after sunset.

Triple conjunctions are relatively rare, according to NASA. The last one was in May 2011 and the next one will not occur until October 2015. "This triple is especially good because it involves the three brightest planets in May's night sky," the U.S. space agency said on its website. The formation should be visible even in places with bright city lights, though a clear view of the western horizon is a must.

Astronomers suggest sky-watchers let Venus and Jupiter be their guide. As the sky darkens the planets will be visible to the naked eye. "They really do shine so brightly that you might mistake them for one or two approaching airplanes with their landing lights turned on," the University of Texas' StarDate magazine wrote on its website. On Sunday, Mercury forms the top of the triangle. By Monday, Venus and Jupiter will be side by side, less than 1 degree apart. "After that, Venus and Mercury will continue to climb higher into the evening sky, while Jupiter drops toward the sun," said StarDate.
