Ask Madam Lichtenstein - What Will the New Year Bring?

Tarot reader 1Snowflake Lover: Charlene, Happy holiday. I love reading your chat. I wanted to know if you saw anything new in new year for me -- Aug. 8, 1969, 3:46 p.m. EST.

Charlene Lichtenstein: Thank you.

Well, you have sun in Leo, moon in Gemini, Mercury in Virgo, Venus in Cancer and Mars in Sagittarius. Probably Capricorn rising.

Possible emotional experiences on the job that can lead to either uncovering hidden things, folks who may be undermining you or lead you to a new spiritual path -- maybe working in or taking a yoga class, astrology lessons, etc.

Relationships are very important to you. Use January and February to find your soulmate, if you don't already have one. Mars in Libra indicates that you will meet new romantic partners through professional events or your job.

Maximize your energies as Jupiter/Pluto oppose through out the year. It increases your sexual energy.

Hope that helps!

ARIES   (MARCH 21 - APRIL 20)
Your career takes precedence over everything else for the next few weeks, Aries. These professional decisions and actions impact your progress through the entire year. So resolve not to take crazy risks or make too many petty outrageous demands while you have the ear of the power brokers. Sugarcoat your requests. Have a gripe? Simmer, stew and plot to serve later.

TAURUS   (APRIL 21 - MAY 21)
Travel has its surprises this January, Taurus. On the one hand it can be a wild and grand adventure. On the other hand it may be too frenetic and crazy to really relax and enjoy. Plan as much of it as you can but be prepared for an occasional detour. Who knows? Expect the unexpected and drop a few breadcrumbs to find your way home. Uh, is that a flock of birds ahead?.

GEMINI   (MAY 22 - JUNE 21)
Love and sex can not only get more complicated, they create ruckus in unexpected situations. Be sure to keep your sex life safely within the parameters of current relationships and don’t order out. Geminis can have a wandering eye. Make a new years resolution to keep your eyes affixed on the ultimate prize. Let me know when you figure out what that is.

CANCER   (JUNE 22 - JULY 23)
Partnerships can evolve and change not only in January but also  throughout the new year. This is great if you have been feeling stalled and static but you can become a little uneasy if you want things to remain just as they are. Embrace the adventure and excitement. A new broom sweeps clean, Cancer. Don’t push all that dust under the rug.

LEO   (JULY 24 - AUGUST 23)
Whatever job you have this year, expect it to be filled with surprises. Even small efforts you put into doing a task well could  have a monumental payoff. Little crafted actions can feed the corporate machinery and catapult you into a new situation. Keep your eyes and ears open for opportunity, Leo. What looks like a dead end actually has a secret tunnel.

VIRGO   (AUGUST 24 - SEPTEMBER 23)
Follow your artistic muse and see where all the fun leads you. The possibilities are endless and the opportunities are enormous. Will you party hearty and wind up with a hangover and a list of new years resolutions? Or will you corral your best ideas into a new marketing push and wow the masses and your bottom line? How energetic do you feel, Virgo?

LIBRA   (SEPTEMBER 24 - OCTOBER 23)
What will feed your inner soul? Some say smores toasting in a fireplace but I think anything that gets you closer to your roots, home and hearth helps. Even if family is far away or estranged, try to reach out to relatives and build bridges. The connection you make today proves to be beneficial later this year. Did I say beneficial? I meant ka-chingie profitable, Libra.

SCORPIO   (OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 22)
As strategic as you think you are, you are even more so now, Scorpio. Everything you say has impact, foresight and profundity. Memorize your lines, work the room and impress them with your intelligence. Focus your attention on a long term goal and resolve to get at least one step closer to it now. Simon says forget baby steps. Go for at least umbrella steps.

SAGITTARIUS   (NOVEMBER 23 - DECEMBER 22)
Money is highlighted now and why not? You have been fairly careful this past winter with your dough and have managed to turn a small nest egg into a large rising pile. What will you do with all your largess? Some Sagittarians will spend like crazy. But others will take a long practical look ahead. Find time for both frivolity and frugalness... or is it cheap thrills?

CAPRICORN   (DECEMBER 23 - JANUARY 20)
All eyes are upon you and it will soon be time to make your grand entrance. Plan your best moves and prepare your best ideas. Capricorns can set their personal course for the next year as they hob nob with the high and mighty. But remember to spend some time with those at the other end of the spectrum too. See life from all angles and shapes. Don’t be obtuse.

AQUARIUS   (JANUARY 21 - FEBRUARY 19)
Stray intuitive thoughts may seem like a distraction but they provide the seeds of creativity. So allow yourself a time for contemplative meditation and see if you discover clues that solve some of your long term intractable problems. At very least you can have a relaxing respite that clears your mind and readies it for the next big push. How much can you push, Aquarius?

PISCES   (FEBRUARY 20 - MARCH 20)
Pals figure prominently in your life now. Find ways to get folks together and even expand your tight circle with a few new fresh faces. Life has been too sedate and boring. The new year guarantees more excitement, Pisces. Stir things up with a potent cocktail of the four “F”s = friends, food, festivities and frolic. Or is it foolishness? I forget.

Lucky Numbers for the Week of December 27, 2013

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes. So with that in mind, here are some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....?

I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of wealth.

Here are the lucky numbers for the week of December 27, 2013 - January 2, 2014:

5, 17, 23, 24, 29, 55, 57, 60

There are many ways to delve into your own consciousness to find luck and intuition. Try reading Dream Power/Improve Your Luck (Super Strength Series) and see if your dreams give you any clues and premonitions. Here's a guide to the best books available this month

Merry Christmas. May All Your Horoscopes Be Good.

MagiEvery year I give my spiel about how the three Magi were in fact, astrologers. Astrologers were the wise men of their day. In fact, there are many instances of the role of astrology in the time of Jesus. Astronomers and astrologers agree that the stars were aligned in such a way as to create an especially bright star in the heavens around that time. Astrologers add that there was a great planetary alignment going on as well.

This particular explanation seems the most accurate to me: In September of 3 B.C., Jupiter came into conjunction with Regulus, the star of kingship, the brightest star in the constellation Leo the Lion. Leo was the constellation of kings, and it was associated with the Lion of Judah. Just a month earlier, Jupiter and Venus had almost seemed to touch each other in another close conjunction, also in Leo. Then the conjunction between Jupiter and Regulus was repeated in February and May of 2 B.C. Finally, on June 17, 2 B.C., Jupiter and Venus, the two brightest objects in the night sky except for the moon, came so close that their disks appeared to touch. This exceptionally rare event could not have been missed by observers such as the Wise Men.

The three wise men (or Magi) were by most accounts, astrologers since astrologers in those days were the ones who were learned and wise.

In addition to the astrology component of Christmas there is also an aromatherapy aspect. The gifts of frankincense and myrrh are symbolic of the two major religions of Jesus with frankincense representing Christianity and myrrh representing Judiasm.

No matter what you celebrate this time of year, all the best for a very happy holiday!

Felissa Rose's Retrograde Winter Astrology Analysis

Venus retrogradeAmazing astrologer Felissa Rose offers her insights into the upcoming season of retrograing planets. Today she starts with Retrograde Venus.

RETROGRADE WINTER – PART ONE:  VENUS

Beginning in December and ending in May there are three important planetary retrogrades.  I took the liberty of titling it Retrograde Winter although one continues well into spring.

Mercury is retrograde from February 6 to the 28, Mars from March 1 until May 19, and Venus from December 21, 2013 to January 31, 2014.

Venus is the first planet to go retrograde. The goddess of beauty, esthetics and balance,  is about harmony.  Harmonizing can take the form of making sure you look good to getting along with others. This includes blending the right clothes, jewelry and make-up, and interacting with people in an agreeable way.  Venus governs our ability to draw people to us, what we do to make ourselves attractive.  It is also helps define those things that give us pleasure,  and  has a strong influence on art and music.  Our tastes and enjoyments are largely defined by Venus.

When planets are retrograde their energy is internalized.  Inner feelings about things tend to override the outer manifestations.  With regard to Venus it’s not so much how something or someone looks, but how they or it makes you feel.

During Venus retrograde periods appreciation of visuals is diminished.  The outer manifestations of beauty and visuals become less significant.  This isn’t the time to change your hair style, have photos taken, or make important purchases of clothes and jewelry.  People will tend to dress down, wearing more muted colors.  After Venus has gone direct you might find yourself saying “why did I make that change or buy those things?”

If you’re in the arts, melody and color won’t be as important.  The emphasis will be on black, white and muted as opposed to a kaleidoscope of color.  The catch part of the hip hop song will be shorter and less catchy.    Entertainment can tend towards the trashy side.  With what’s playing on TV now, especially with regards to reality shows, that won’t be difficult to find.  One has a choice of numerous Real Housewives and lots of Kardashians.

Venus rules partnership and marriage.  The pace of relationships slows down so if you want to take the next step do so before Venus goes retrograde or after it goes direct.  Since Venus rules harmony, marry before or after it’s retrograde.

Those planning elective surgery, particularly if it’s cosmetic should try and avoid having it done during a Venus retrograde period.  Most likely you won’t be pleased with the results.

The entire Venus retrograde takes place when it’s transiting the sign of Capricorn.  Capricorn rules structure, organization and, along with Virgo, bureaucracies.   The biggest bureaucracy is government.  It’s unlikely those having different political views will reach an accord or even get along.  Peace treaties signed while Venus was retrograde had to be altered at best or have fallen apart.

While Venus is retrograde the internalization of its energy makes it a great time to seek the beauty of one’s inner being by opening up to spiritual harmony though such practices as mediation and contemplation.  Those born with this position often seek internal meaning in both beauty and harmony.  They feel it’s not how wearing a piece of jewelry looks but what it means on a deeper level.  For example, does a gemstone have a special vibration or healing properties?  Venus retrograde at birth doesn’t negate artistic awareness it just increases the inner stimulus for creativity.

When a planet is stationary, the period it is either about to go retrograde or direct in motion, its effects are intensified.  About a week or so either way, the world wakes up to Venus.  There can be a buying spree, which should please the retailers in December.  Increased inspiration in the arts, more releases of new musical material, a rash of parties and socializing, as well as the onset and development of romantic relationships.   Progress can be made in the resolution of differences between individuals and nations.

Venus goes retrograde approximately every year and a half.  The next one starts on July 25, 2015 and ends September 6, 2015.  Take note for those planning to wed around then.

Felissa will discuss the next Mercury Retrograde in Part 2 of the coming Retrograde Winter in the next few weeks and Part 3, Mars Retrograde after that.
