Louis B Nunn and the Bird Hitting His Window

Bird in windowI was watching True Crime with Aphordite Jones on Investigation Discovery last night. The episode was of the murder rampage of Steve Nunn, son of Governor Louis B Nunn. Steve shot and killed his ex-fiancee. But what really got my goosebumps going was the side story of the death of Steve's father Louis. Louis' death occured after a bird kept flying smack into his home's window.

I have written about superstitions regarding birds flying into windows and into homes and what this might portend. I believe that the bird is a messenger, often delivering important and possibly dire life changing news. But they can also be guardian angels warning us to protect ourselves.

Steve's ex-wife Tracey L Damron talks about the impact of the bird in her book A Trail of Feathers. The book provides insight into the life that she and Nunn shared prior to their divorce. It also pays homage to her Native American heritage. Each chapter begins with a Cherokee proverb that pertains to a life lesson Damron learned over the period of time described in the chapter.

She was married to Nunn for 10 years and helped him rekindle a relationship with his father, former Governor Louie B. Nunn, shortly before he died. It was around that time that things drastically changed in the home. She said Nunn’s problems started at Christmas time, when she and Nunn went to have dinner with his father and a bird flew into the window. “It all began with a bird hitting the window,” she said. “This is when my life changed.” She wrote about the incident in the chapter, ‘Blood in the Windows,” and describes how she believes Nunn became obsessed over the bird after his father died.

After studying with a shaman, Damron came to see the bird as a messenger who was warning the family of Gov. Nunn’s death. “In the book, I share about the shaman, and what all he told me, and I share what the doctors told me about Steve,” she said. “People can come to their own conclusions of what happened to Steve Nunn because something happened to him, and I was there to witness it, and it was the most painful time of my life,” Damron said.  The shaman eventually told her to leave Nunn. She walked away, leaving everything behind.

Mercury Retrograde by Felissa Rose

UnknownRenowned astrologer Felissa Rose shares her knowledge about the current Mercury retrograde:

RETROGRADE WINTER – PART TWO:  MERCURY

Beginning in December and ending in May there are three important planetary retrogrades.  I took the liberty of naming it Retrograde Winter although one continues well into spring.  The first was Venus retrograde from December 21, 2013 to January 31, 2014  discussed in the previous report., the second Mercury and the third is Mars from March 1 thru May 19.

Mercury goes retrograde on February 6, 2014 at 4:44 pm EST 3 degrees  15 minutes of Pisces.   On February 28 at 9:01 am EST it turns direct at 18 degrees 10 minutes of Aquarius.

Mercury rules  our thinking, the way we acquire and process thoughts and information. When planets are retrograde their energy is internalized.  Inner feelings about things tend to override external expression.  We turn from talkers to listeners.    Reading, writing and less speaking are in tune with a Mercury retrograde period.

Mercury rules tubes, wires, circuits, and along with Mars moving parts.  Unless forced to,  try and delay purchasing technological products while Mercury is retrograde. For example,  one fellow I know bought a  watch when Mercury was retrograde. It never worked properly, always stopped and then unexpectedly started and he was always late.

Mercury rules information and unless they're emergencies, put off medical exams, tests and procedures during this periods.  The diagnosis is more likely  be incorrect or incomplete and good chance you would have to be retested.

While Mercury is retrograde, reexamine, reassess, reflect, do your research. hand in your papers, reports and give your talks after the retrograde is over. It's a great time to explore the inner you through meditation, contemplation or just being one with nature.

During 2014 Mercury will again be retrograde from June 7 to July 1 and  October 4 thru October 25.

Ask Madam Lichtenstein - How Often Do I get My Horoscope Cast?

Tarot reader 1McLean, VA: How often does one need to have their chart done? If the star course is predetermined for each individual based on birth time, is one really good reading valid for an extended period of time?

Charlene Lichtenstein: You would ideally like to have your birth chart calculated. Then, as you have issues or questions, you may want to look at your "progressed" chart which measures maturity and growth. On a more frequent basis, you may want to examine transits to your chart where the slower moving planets can impact certain areas of your chart. This can be done as often as once a month, but I always suggest no more than three times a year for transits. The progressed, no more than once a year or two. Charts cast on your birthday to look at the year ahead – called Solar Return charts - once a year.

ARIES   (MARCH 21 - APRIL 20)
Don’t be surprised if you draw a crowd over the next weeks. Aries are suddenly thrust into the epicenter of the social swirl where they happily take charge. You become the lifeblood of any event and have some great ideas as to how to bring various people together. Friends just can’t get enough of you. Lovers however are another thing. Share the glare.

TAURUS   (APRIL 21 - MAY 21)
Taureans are corporately inclined. Keep a watchful eye on professional politics - you can discern any distant rumblings and make it work in your favor. If you are not currently in charge, you grab an opportunity to show senior staff what you can do. Strut upon the stage. But be sure that it is not a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury and signifying nothing.

GEMINI   (MAY 22 - JUNE 21)
If you are not planning a nice relaxing vacation now, you should be. You benefit from anything that gets you away from the usual and enables you to spread your influence globally. It can be by cruising the internet or just cruising .... on the ocean. Geminis can totally unwind and lower the bee hive buzz. How about some vodka stingers by the sea?

CANCER   (JUNE 22 - JULY 23)
Scratch an itch and focus on what really turns you on this week. Cancers feel sexy, sultry and even a bit mischievous. Don’t be shy. You manage to find a few co-conspirators to enable and encourage you in your assorted sorted pursuits. So allow your friskiness full reign. You simply cannot be tied down. Unless of course that is your “thing”.

LEO   (JULY 24 - AUGUST 23)
The cosmos strongly suggests that this is the time to make your big move. Leos may be hanging on the sidelines, watching all the action and waiting for the right time. Get going. You can make some powerful connections to others and form strong relationships. For those comfortably settled in, use this time to strengthen the ties that bind. Maybe tie the knot? Ouch!

VIRGO   (AUGUST 24 - SEPTEMBER 23)
Prepare for the all-too-soon swimsuit season this week. Take a good sidelong look in the mirror and see if you are ready for your close-up. Hmm. You now have the impetus to get into better shape and revitalize your overall health and fitness regimes. Virgos can also tackle any detailed project and clear their desks of work. Oh goodie. What fun.

LIBRA   (SEPTEMBER 24 - OCTOBER 23)
This is no time to be serious and pouty. Enjoy life, a flirty romance or a wildly creative artistic diversion. The party finds you and you must be ready to participate. Libras can (and do) unleash their fun side and take a creative leap or two. Does a cabaret act involving a can opener, mouse ears and a jar of pickles count? Heck yes!

SCORPIO   (OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 22)
Serious consideration should be paid to any domestic issue. Scorpios feel they’re in the middle of a tornado that blows their feelings, possessions and plans into far winds. This is the week to gain control and place things back in order. And maybe not in the exact same order. Don’t recreate old patterns. Break free, be yourself and dance the dance. No, not disco.

SAGITTARIUS   (NOVEMBER 23 - DECEMBER 22)
Speak from the heart, let others know how you feel and expect some wonderful responses. Reaching out and expressing your true desires should be your mantra this week, Sagittarius. You can be very persuasive for a change and seem to have a lot of “asks”. Ask away! Before you know it your inspiration is stoked and your persona is stroked. Go for broke.

CAPRICORN   (DECEMBER 23 - JANUARY 20)
What is it that motivates Capricorns now? I think it must be money, money, money. The secret to happiness is management of your load. Careful planning will bring its rewards but thriftiness will not scratch your itch. There are a few little expensive trinkets that you simply must have. This week has you checking out an assortment of bottom lines. Anyone we know...?

AQUARIUS   (JANUARY 21 - FEBRUARY 19)
This week hearkens new beginnings, new people and a new perspective on life. This means that you should not rest on your laurels nor should you rely on the usual tricks of the trade to just get by. Just “getting by” will simply not do. Stretch yourself, Aquarius. Get out of your box and go where you have never gone before. No, not Scranton.

PISCES   (FEBRUARY 20 - MARCH 20)
A light shines in your most secret places and reveals a load of dust and assorted grimy garbage. Clean it up and throw it out Pisces. Your secrets are tweeted and anything you try to hide will be revealed to the immediate world. It is good.to be secret-free. There is a spring in your step and a warmth in your spirit. Or is it just the fajita you had for lunch...?
