ARIES (MARCH 21 - APRIL 20)
Your natural outspokenness may get you into a bit of trouble, Aries. But don’t let the fear of talking out of turn dissuade you from making your point. Just be aware that both business and pleasurable relationships could be altered or broken by some misspoken words or unclear thoughts. Maybe you should let your actions speak louder than your words now.

TAURUS (APRIL 21 - MAY 21)
If you think folks are talking about you behind your back, you could be right. But it is the smart and clever Taurean that holds back from any reaction or over-reaction at this time. In fact your partners could be planning a huge, happy surprise for you. Or not. Stay tuned with your ear to the ground and your careful silence speaking volumes.

GEMINI (MAY 22 - JUNE 21)
While your social life can hit a high point now, you may find that your plans and discussions with pals can hit a few road blocks. The thing is, Gemini, that what you say may not match what you do. This can lead to confusion and frustration. Maybe it is better to let your friends make all the plans. You can merrily roll along and just enjoy.

CANCER (JUNE 22 - JULY 23)
Examine your career plans. Readjust your expectations and deal with any relationship fall-out from any rash and emotional decisions. Cancers sometimes expect perfection but the world is not always perfect. Looks at your prospects with a clear cold eye and be prepared to compromise. It will all work out eventually and you will wind up on top.

LEO (JULY 24 - AUGUST 23)
Leos with itchy paws may want to escape their routine and find excitement across the world. Great! But let someone else do the planning for you. Any itinerary your create may have some missing elements or miscommunication now. And there are a few things you need to handle closer to home. Get everything in the right order and then vamoose.

VIRGO (AUGUST 24 - SEPTEMBER 23)
Do the words of love escape you, Virgo? Something off handed that you whisper to lovers could cause great upheavals in your romantic life. You may over promise or you may say things that are misconstrued, Instead of trying to explain what your really mean, it might be better to use your mouth for better things than just flapping the air, if you get what I mean...

LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 24 - OCTOBER 23)
Avoid discussing sensitive subjects with family members for a little while longer, Libra. You are running high on emotions and may say something that you really don’t mean. Same too for any heated discussions with partners, especially regarding money and your wild spendthrift habits. You can spoil them later. But keep things cool right now.

SCORPIO (OCTOBER 24 - NOVEMBER 22)
It may be difficult to prioritize all of your various work tasks, Scorpio. That is because you are too busy moving and grooving among the A-list crowd. Keep dancing but don’t be tempted to boss the course and push folks around. You could say that one thing too much that could push you down the alphabet. How good is your spelling...?

SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 23 - DECEMBER 22)
Your finances may need some attention, Sagittarius. But don’t do anything fiscally drastic. Spend with your head, not your heart. There are things brewing that can place you on an interesting, lucky and profitable course if you can tap into your creativity and manage short term expectations. That means no crazy parties ... unless someone else pays for them.

Capricorns with places to go and people to see will have to take a step back and focus on home and hearth. That means that some domestic issues will need your close and logical attention. The world beckons and Pisces must heed the call. But if you are interested in swimming in larger waters, be sure that your plans cover any contingency. You might spend more than you anticipate. Lucky Numbers for the Week of March 30, 2018

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes. So with that in mind, here are some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....?

I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of wealth.

A Museum Dedicated to the Last Witch in Europe

Interesting article from Atlas Obscura: As the Local reports, an anonymous donor has given one million francs—about 1,080,000 American dollars—to renovate the Anna Göldi Museum. The museum, which is located in Ennenda, Switzerland, is focused on human rights and women’s rights, topics it explores through the story of the wrongful execution of Anna Göldi, known as “the last witch in Europe.” It’s currently only open in the summers, but will use the money to operate year-round.

Göldi was, of course, not really a witch at all. Born to a poor family in Sax, Switzerland, and subject to a series of misfortunes during her younger years, Göldi eventually fled her hometown for the canton of Glarus, where she worked as a domestic servant for a doctor and aspiring politician named Jakob Tschudi. Göldi looked after the household for 17 years, until one day Tschudi fired her. Soon after, he reported her to the authorities. He claimed that he had found needles in the family’s bread and milk, and that Göldi was using witchcraft to try and poison his children. But modern scholars think it’s more likely that Tschudi was having an affair with Göldi. When he fired her, she threatened to expose this fact, and rather than risk his political career, he decided to use the law to get rid of her. As scholar Walter Hauser told the BBC, “Anna Göldi was a threat to powerful people. They wanted her out of the way.”

Göldi was tortured until she admitted to colluding with the devil. She later retracted that confession, but after she was tortured again, she re-confessed. She was found guilty, and in 1782, she was beheaded in the public square. This execution caused a backlash in her time as well: “Educated people [in Switzerland] did not believe in witchcraft in 1782,” Hauser said.

Over the past few decades, Göldi has found a kind of second life as a symbol of women’s rights, human rights, and what can happen when the powerful are allowed to abuse their authority. In 2008—after much lobbying from Hauser—the parliament of Glarus officially exonerated Göldi, deeming her trial a miscarriage of justice. The local courthouse now has a memorial to her, consisting of two perpetually-lit lamps. There have been books and movies dedicated to her story, and there is even a new musical about her, which opened last fall.

There is also the museum, which first opened in early 2017, and moved to a new location—a historic textile building—that same summer. The large donation will fund the building’s heating and insulation, as well as the construction of a new staircase that will enable easier access.

“With this investment, we can open the museum all year long,” says museum board member Maggie Wandfluh. It’s too little, too late for Göldi—but, perhaps, just in time for the rest of us.
