Mothers and their Children
Sunday 3rd February 2019 - 15.30-18.00 GMT
Our first caretaker, the one who gives us life (or her replacement), is often carried in our charts through the Moon and its aspects. But other planets, and the Midheaven can describe her, and other people can play her role. Whatever is constellated around this fundamental relationship, has a deep emotional imprint throughout our lives. How do our real-life carers correspond to the image in the birth chart? How do we integrate the power of the past in our adult lives?
Mothers come in many guises: controlling ones, and frightening ones, efficient workaholics, and devoted single parents. There are devouring mothers and sainted martyrs. Mothers who love babies only up to the age of six. It is the power of the child’s imagination that embellishes the Mother and breathes life into her archetype throughout our lives.
Participants are welcome to volunteer their charts for possible inclusion in the webinar. (Please email chart data of yourself and your mother once you have booked and before 25th January. You will need a headset in order to talk to Lynn during the webinar.)
Pluto - To Hell and Back
Sunday 17th February 2019 - 15.30-18.00 GMT
The myth of Hades, god of the underworld, is intimately connected with the myth of Demeter, Goddess of Nature, and the transformation of her daughter Persephone from innocent maiden (Kore) to Queen of the Underworld. The story of Demeter and Persephone was ritually re-enacted in the Eleusinian Mysteries, secret religious rites observed annually in ancient Greece for two thousand years. They are believed to have celebrated the cyclical nature of life, the recognition that death is always followed by rebirth. It was said of those initiated at Eleusis that they emerged radically changed, freed from the fear of death, in the realisation of eternal life which lies behind the appearance of constant change.
Represented in the horoscope by Pluto and its transits, recognition and acceptance of the destructive and creative power of nature, as Great Mother, is vital to transforming both ourselves and the world. By confronting our own depths, by meeting and burning through our own small inheritance of the demonised and distorted unconscious forces of Pluto, we can transform its expression in our own lives and return it to the collective as a regenerated life force.
Fire: The Heart of Knowing
Sunday 24th February 2019 - 15.30-18.00 GMT
Fire is a dangerous and unpredictable element when uncontrolled and yet it is at the heart of our lives as human beings. Our ability to control fire has given us a freedom that has allowed us to settle in all parts of the world, and to explore the planet, and beyond. At another level, fire is the element that represents our ability to know things directly – it shows us our intuitive function. It represents the imaginal realm and is at the heart of our creative lives. It is how we ‘know’ things, directly. In this webinar we shall explore the realm of fire, through its signs, planets and houses.
The Gatekeeper Archetype and the Angles
Sunday 3rd March 2019 - 15.30-18.00 GMT
The four angles of the birth chart are profoundly sensitive points, as anyone who has had an outer planet transit over one knows. The angles symbolize how we meet the world and take in experience, acting as gateways of consciousness. Every gateway or threshold has a gatekeeper, a guardian who protects the territory that lies beyond. Astrologically, these are the rulers of the angles. This lecture will explore the archetype of the Gatekeeper so to deepen our understanding the role of the angles and their respective houses, and how our angle rulers hold the keys to cultivating these fields of life.
Participants are welcome to volunteer their charts for possible inclusion in the webinar. (Please email chart data of yourself and your mother once you have booked and before 15th February. You will need a headset in order to talk to Safron during the webinar.)
Saturn and Jupiter: Puer & Senex
Sunday 10th March 2019 - 15.30-18.00 GMT
Jupiter in Sagittarius and Saturn in Capricorn together in the sky draw out the timeless, archetypal figures of the Eternal Youth (Puer) and the Old Man, or Father Time (Senex). The Puer carries sky-high visions and longings that keep Eternity close at hand, in contrast with the Senex’s earthbound world of Time and mortality.
Both are significant energies as we approach an abundance of planets in Capricorn in 2020 and talk in today’s world is of building walls and restricting borders, while dystopias dominate many dreams of the future.
In this webinar we will look at the complex dynamics of this archetypal pairing, in mythology and in the natal chart. We'll look at why they are important (especially as a pair) and relevant to this period of history. And we'll see how they operate in relationships.
Sorrow is Knowledge: Chiron in the Chart and by Transit
Sunday 17th March 2019 - 15.30-18.00 GMT
“But Grief should be the Instructor of the wise;
Sorrow is Knowledge: they who know the most
Must mourn the deepest o'er the fatal truth,
The Tree of Knowledge is not that of Life.”
Lord Byron, Manfred
Why do we bother with Chiron in a chart? He’s not even a proper planet and how much influence does this wandering, wounded maverick have on our charts? In my experience of the past few years – a lot. There is more to Chiron than just the wound which does not heal. In this webinar I will look at Chiron natally, explore that mixture of personal and collective hurt that he brings to us and examine what happens as he transits the personal planets of our charts. We will also consider the meaning of Chiron in Aries.
How can we learn to cope with the suffering and loss that Chiron can often bring? Is acceptance the hardest word for us to utter and can it ever bring about true healing?
