Lucky Numbers for the Week of May 21, 2021

Lottery ads tell us you only need a dollar and a dream. But it is also helpful to have a list of lucky numbers to help spur the good fortune ... or fortunes. So with that in mind, here are some lucky numbers that can be used in any helpful way. I gazed into a pool of water, Nostradamus-like, and contemplated the cosmos. Then I mixed the tarot cards and allowed the spirits to guide me to the cards that represent the lucky numbers for this week. Nothing is guaranteed but who knows ....?

I choose eight numbers because 8 is the number of of wealth.

Here are the lucky numbers for the week of May 21-27, 2021:

8, 9, 18, 20, 30, 33, 41, 50

Bad Tarot Cards Are Not Really Bad

Devil tarot card

I can't tell you how many times I read someone's Tarot Cards when some fairly uncomfortable cards show up. One of those cards is The Devil. In many decks, the Devil card has a fairly scary image and in the reading itself, it represents problems in the person's life. Some folks panic when they see this card in their reading.

Now I am no Pollyanna. The Devil card is one that I would prefer not to see in a reading. But I am fairly philosophical about that card if it does reveal. I have found that, yes, it represents problems. But they are problems that are obvious. They are problems that you can see (and maybe even know about before the reading itself) and in seeing these problems, you can fix them, handle them, wrangle them and maybe even solve them forever.

For me, it is the hidden problems, the potholes in the road of life that we cannot see, that are hidden from us, perhaps purposely, that are the problems to really worry about. That is not what the Devil card represents.

So the next time you sit down for a reading and you see this horned creature in your spread, think about what you need to do to overcome any obstacle in your life. Once you know, you can succeed.

Mercury and the Sun
Sunday 2nd May 2021 - 15.30-18.00 BST

Mercury is the Messenger of the gods, and also the Trickster god, and in our charts it describes the part of us which gathers information for our ongoing lives – and our survival. Never being far from the Sun, it does this primarily for who we are aiming to be. It may rise ahead of the Sun, or after the Sun, and it may be direct or retrograde. It may be in the same sign as the Sun or the sign. Each of these positions tells us something significant about how it works. We shall explore these differences so to appreciate its paradoxical dimension more fully and to aid others to do this as well.

Martin Moritz
Singletons in the Chart: Dealing with your inner black sheep
Sunday 16th May Feb 2021 - 15.30-18.00 BST

We often take those elements of which we have plenty for granted, even can get bored with them. Welcome to yawn city. If, on the other hand, an element is completely missing, we can become quite worried. What to do? Missing elements are often delegated into the shadow, prone to all sorts of defense mechanisms, mostly projection. And can we presume that one planet in an element is better than none at all? Well…no, not quite! Richard Idemon called these planets ‘singletons’ and attached a great deal of significance to them. After all, they have to carry the whole weight of this element, which can never be an easy task. And so singletons are at odds when it comes to integrate themselves into the chorus of the chart, they are not team player. It rather wants to become the conductor of the whole chart and play first fiddle in our consciousness. A prima ballerina or a black sheep, the runt or the pig of the litter.

We often become obsessed with this singleton and this element, transfixed by everything they archetypically represent. The singleton can become a loose cannon and act as an energy sucking vampire, residing in its house like in a sinister castle, from where it wreaks havoc.

This sounds stressful, and quite rightly so. But what makes these tricksters so fascinating, is that they often represent the hidden gold in a chart. A magical sore-point, which can challenge the other elements to creative ways of expressing themselves. We will look at elements and all planets plus Chiron and Lilith to shed some light on how they can dominate a chart.

The Psychology of Place: Local Space as Astrological Magic

Sunday 23rd May 2021 - 15.30-18.00 BST

This seminar explores the technique of Local Space as a type of transformative magic. It offers us both a global map and a local chart. Our Local Space map shows how we relate to the wider world, each planet line evoking that archetype for us along its length around the globe. Using the Local Space chart, our personal living space reveals itself as a reflection of our birth chart, where we unconsciously express the dynamics of our personality in the way we have arranged our home. Using the magic of astrological correspondence and conscious acts of rearrangement, our home can become the catalyst for self-understanding, personal development and creative transformation.

John Green
Melding the Aspects
Sunday 6th June 2021 - 15.30-18.00 BST

A big part of learning astrology is getting to grips with the aspects. How do the deities in our charts (planets) interact with one another? There are many books and pieces of software who will give us a quick delineation of these but when a planet has many aspects they don’t tell us how it all fits together. What do we make of Venus square Moon, trine Saturn opposite Jupiter for example? Or a planet which is involved in two complex aspect patterns? In today’s webinar we will strip the chart back to look at these planetary interactions and see how we can find the ways to tell the story of these complicated relationships to our clients, or even ourselves.

John will take a few participant’s charts during the webinar if time permits, so email us in advance if you would like to offer your chart and talk about it during the webinar.

The 9th House and the Making of our Minds: Faith, False Prophets, Dark Gods, and Visionaries
Sunday 20th June 2021 - 15.30-18.00 BST

In ancient astrology the 9th house was the House of God, it is meant to direct us to the highest good. Sometimes our fellow humans fervently believe things that seem incomprehensible, and we are even more bewildered when others agree. How can our minds be  “turned”? At a time when collective  beliefs are under siege, and the greater good is being redefined, we will look at how the 9th house functions in the natal chart, both in those with strong beliefs and those who defy collective standards, deny evidence, or lead others into obscure territory. In the 9th house we  also leap into unknown territory, into the experience of the numinous and the divine. Both the sign ruler of the 9th and planets positioned here have much to say about our experience of this house.

Jason Holley
The Places of Planetary Descent: Re-Imagining the 6th, 7th, and 8th Houses
Sunday 27th June 2021 - 15.30-18.00 BST

Known to the ancients as the places of bad fortune, setting, and idleness, the 6th, 7th, and 8th house respectively are the areas in the sky where planets descend below the horizon. Unseen by the Ascendant to whom they make no aspect, in the 8th house planets cross the Gate of Hades and accelerate their journey to the Underworld. Then in the 7th house they dramatically appear opposite to the Ascendant, discovered through the Other bringing contrast set off in bold relief. Finally, again invisible to the Ascendant, in the 6th house planets are fully subjected to the realm of Night in the place where Mars, the Night protector and guardian, was said to rejoice.

Planets found in these places of the chart are completing what we might archetypally call the Day journey that culminated in the 9th house, and now they are coming to terms with Night. In this webinar we will examine this situation psychologically, and explore the predicaments and possibilities of planets in these locations. In particular we will consider the 8th and 7th house reality that it is through others that we discover our own inner diversity and multiplicity, our own Night; and the 6th house reality that the body and especially its symptoms likewise invite us into the deep realm of the implicit.

To get a felt sense of each house, we will explore case examples from long-term psychotherapy as well as imagery, story, embodied imagination, and psychodrama. We will also consider figures from Greco-Roman myth – including the witch Medea, the beautiful mortal Psyche, and the wise centaur Chiron – each of whom found themselves in similar situations to those experienced by planets in these houses. We will develop a variety of creative ways to conceptualize and empathize with planets who inhabit, rule, and visit each house: what do they do there, what are the possibilities, what kinds of things can happen in each of these areas of the psyche?

In the process we will also develop and practice a multi-layered approach to understanding houses in general. At the level of technique this means putting ancient cosmologies of the houses based on clockwise diurnal motion into conversation with more modern cosmologies based on counter-clockwise progression through the signs. At the level of imagination, it means drawing from the deep well of ancient mythology to contextualize and enrich the modern life stories of people today.
