VENUS RETROGRADE FROM DECEMBER 2021 INTO JANUARY 2022

Approximately every year and a half the planet Venus goes  retrograde for a period of six weeks.   The last time this happened was in May and June 2020 and the next one begins is on December 19^, 2021, when Venus is at 26 degrees 29 minutes of Capricorn ending on January 29, 2022, with Venus located at 11 degrees 4 minutes of  Capricorn for during this entire time Venus will be moving through the earth sign Capricorn.  The planet of love, beauty and artistry, in its transit through this sign will show a more practical side of Venus.  Capricorn is constructive and organized  usually thinking and building for the long term.  Focused on future goals it doesn’t require immediate results or rewards for its efforts.     For example, even getting a hair cut would  not just be about one’s  initial appearance, but the time it will take to grow out and how the shape and cut itself would reflect on the individual in the future as well as the moment.

Venus is about harmony as well as peace.  Diplomatic peace agreements made in the past while Venus was in retrograde ultimately fell through or needed to be revised.  Peace is something badly needed in the world, but retrograde energy is internalized making it more difficult to manifest it in a worldly way.  

On a personal level this internalization of the energy is  favorable for both meditation and reflection.  As Venus is connected to relationships it’s good to see if the person or people you relate to resonate on an inner as well as worldly level.   If the relationship feels right, it can develop and deepen.  When you love someone who is on the same wavelength it further opens the fourth chakra which is the heart chakra and which at times energizes the area, which can even be felt physically in the area around the heart.

As mentioned, while Venus is retrograde the external expression of beauty is lessened which manifests in both visual and decorative choices.  This includes  haircuts, jewelry, cosmetics, furniture, clothing and all thing connected with adornment and esthetics.   When Venus was retrograde during one Academy Awards show several years ago many of the women wore gray and black dresses and even suits.  Faye Dunaway accepted her Oscar dressed in a man’s tuxedo.   If you’re planning to make any decorative purchases, it’s OK to do the research while Venus is retrograde  but make your purchase after the planet is direct.   Mercury will also be retrograde from January 18, 2022, until February 3, 2022, so there’s a better chance that decorative  things purchased during that time, especially furnishings, would have flaws.  

For those planning any kind of cosmetic surgery that isn’t an emergency, though when it comes to one’s appearance it often feels that way, it would be best not to have it done while this planet is retrograde.  As Mercury ruler of the eye also being retrograde, it would be best not to have anything done to or around the eyes. 

When a planet is direct what it represents manifests more openly.  Venus being the ruler of esthetics and art during the time its retrograde it would be best to go over what one has previously been worked on.  Have seen a few artists born with this position and their work often isn’t as colorful as one who has Venus direct but have found what they created  to be thought provoking as well as interesting, reflecting  the internalization of Venusian energy.

The energy of a planet is heightened right before it goes retrograde as  well as when it goes direct.     Venus will come to 26 degrees of Capricorn,  the degree it went retrograde on March 1.   Hopefully this will aid in straightening out Venusian  issues with regard to  harmony and beauty that need to be resolved.   For It might have been more difficult to get along with those you had problems with during the retrograde period.  So, during the retrograde spend some time looking inward on what you need in order to create more balance especially with regard to  relationships and your life.  For being in harmony with oneself makes it easier to be so  with others.

Obsidian ‘Spirit Mirror’ Used by Elizabeth I’s Court Astrologer Has Aztec Origins

An obsidian “spirit mirror” used by John Dee, an advisor to England’s Elizabeth I, traces its origins to Aztec culture, a new study published in the journal Antiquity suggests.

A Renaissance polymath whose interests ranged from astronomy to astrology, alchemy and math, Dee advised the queen from the start of her reign in 1558 to the 1570s. As court astrologer and scientific advisor, he advocated for overseas exploration and the establishment of colonies.

“Later he became involved in divination and the occult, seeking to talk to angels through the use of scryers (those who divine the future), who used artifacts—like mirrors and crystals,” the study’s lead author, University of Manchester archaeologist Stuart Campbell, tells Ashley Strickland of CNN.

Today, the British Museum owns the mirror, which is on display in London alongside two similar circular obsidian mirrors and a rectangular obsidian slab that may be a portable altar, reports Tom Metcalfe for National Geographic. Researchers had previously suspected that the artifacts originated with the Aztecs, and the new study confirms this chemically.
