Get the Compost without Keeping Pet Worms
Recently I wrote Get Some Pet Worms and Live a Greener Life which was a post stating, in part: A bucket full of worms may seem an unlikely choice for a pet but what other pet happily eats all your garbage, doesn't shed, doesn't chew your shoes or scratch your furniture and doesn't require periodic trips to the vet?
Another benefit to these pets is the rich compost they create for you -- great for your potted plants and garden. But I have since heard from some Petopia readers that, while you like the idea of the compost, you just don't think you are ready for the pet worms. So, for those of you who can't keep worm pets, here's the good news: just buy the worm poop.
You can get 20 ounces of liquefied worm poop (wonder how they collect it) in a ready-to-use mix, packaged in a recycled soda bottle for only $6.95. This is the flagship product offered by Terracycle, a company determined to be financially successful while being ecologically and socially responsible. I'd say that buying this product is the next best thing to making your own, especially if you are adverse to squirmy things.
