Mimi Ausland, Humane Hero, Gets Free Kibble for Shelter Animals

Picture 7 When Mimi Ausland, a 12 year old girl from Bend, Oregon, wanted to help feed the hungry animals at her local animal shelter she found inspiration in rice. As she watched her dad take his daily online quiz so that people would get rice donations (http://www.freerice.com/) she got the idea for her free kibble site. She found a local pet store willing to donate 10 pieces of kibble every time someone answered a daily trivia question at her website. The site got national attention and bigger partners and she is now able to donate food to 11 shelters or groups around the country.

At free kibble kat, every day that you play Meow Trivia, they provide free kibble to animal shelters. It doesn't matter if you get the answer correct or not, just playing helps feed their hungry cats. And you can also help feed hungry shelter dogs free kibble by taking the Bow Wow Trivia quiz every day. These quizzes are fun, quick and educational -- and you're helping feed the animals. I did not do well with the quizzes but I still felt good because of the food donation.

As of June 2008 more than 43 million pieces of kibble have been donated (that's over 620,000 meals). Visit both sites and add your kibble bits to the donation -- make it a daily habit.
