Canine CPR - New Links
Many dogs have a habit of gulping down their food without chewing so it shouldn't be surprising to hear that occasionally they do choke. Another choking hazard they encounter is with toys. As a pet owner (or friend) you'll want to be prepared to handle this type of emergency by learning how to perform CPR and how to do the Heimlich maneuver.
JohannTheDog.com has published a wonderful Squidoo Lens on Canine CPR where you can find lots of valuable information, such as links for CPR training and videos demonstrating first aid procedures on a dog. The American Red Cross, well-known for their CPR training, also offers Pet First Aid courses. Basic first aid information in 14 languages is available on their prepare.org site.
Take a little time now to learn these critical first aid procedures and, why not also include a few lessons on human first aid at the same time. These are skills that pay very big dividends if you ever need them.
And during this time of disasters from hurricanes to fires to floods, knowing how to recover from disaster is vitally important. Check out this guide about disaster recovery.
