Holy smokes 41 days in a row above 80*. Awesome!

At first I thought day after day of 80 degree highs would be pretty common for the summer months but it turned out there were a number of years in which streaks were less than a dozen days. So far this year the longest 80 streak has been 22 days.

on August 12 and 13 of 2014, 0.72" of rain fell in Central Park. however, the story was entirely different to our east in Islip when an official NY State 24 hour precipitation record was set on 8/13 with 13.57" (an additional 0.06" fell on 8/12). at one point, 1.76" fell in 15 minutes from 5:39 am to 5:54 am!

also in 2016, the low temperature was 81° and on July 23 of the same year, the low temperature was 80°. this was the seventh time (and the first since 2002) that a year experienced a low temperature of 80° or warmer in both July and August.

My aunt got married on August 13, 1955. Her name? Connie. For years my Aunts and Uncles called her "Hurricane Connie".
