Are you sure this was the twenty-fourth warmest September? The NWS tweeted that this tied 1953 as the sixteenth warmest September.



Yes, it was 24th according to my count. It would be tied for 16th if NWS only went back to the early 1950s, but I looked at all years since 1869.
